Jacobs is only supporting candidate development activities for this role. This position is for a Joint Venture team, and you will be assigned to one of the associated firms and work onsite at MARTA. As a Field Inspector, you will ensure that contractors performing MARTA rapid rail and facilities projects comply with applicable building codes, regulations, contract specifications, and drawings through ongoing, regular inspections, usually in a specific area of assignment or expertise (i.e., architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, rail, etc.). In this role, you will also manage several projects simultaneously and mentor and/or train lower-level field inspection staff. Key Responsibilities: - Monitors on site construction activities, verifies quality of materials, workmanship and products are being provided and installed in accordance with the approved construction contract documents. - Prepare, submit, and maintain daily records of work activities, quantities usedand conditions at the job site. - Conduct inspections and site observations as required to document the quality of work being installed. - Reports documented work quality issues to the Quality Assurance Engineer and the Resident Engineer. - Redlines contract documents as minor changes are being made in the field. - Assists with the development and implementation of project quality control plans. Recommends corrective/preventive action and implements the necessary action plan to correct deficiencies.
- Associates Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related discipline. - Minimum of five (5) years of experience working on construction, remodeling, retrofitting, rail or mass transit projects or on projects within the general infrastructure environment such as track maintenance, electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, etc. Ability and knowledge to read and understand contract specification and drawings. Experience can be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Ideally, You’ll Also Have: - OSHA 30 and Authority's Safety Compliance certifications Understand and follow the work practices and standard operating procedures defined by MARTA safety guidelines and the Project Specific Safety Plan. Use and/or wear the appropriate equipment, protective devices, or clothing that MARTA and/or the project requires. Report health and safety concerns related to performing the duties of your job to supervisors and report any on-going/unresolved health and safety concerns to the Project Safety Engineer and the Resident Engineer.
