Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field AND 6+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience
    • OR Advanced Degree (e.g., Master's in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or related field; J.D.; LL.M. in Taxation) AND 5+ years tax compliance, tax accounting, tax audit management or tax advisory experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Deep hands-on experience with ASC740 modeling
  • Hands-on experience with US and US international corporate income tax
  • Database and desktop application ability (specifically SAP and MS Office)
  • Project management skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business stakeholders
  • Exhibit analytical thinking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment with prioritization and organizational skills
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) certification
  • Previous experience in corporate tax department
  • Previous experience in Big 4 corporate tax practices

Responsibilities
  • Manage Microsoft’s US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) income tax accounting models including deferred accounting, payable accounting, tax account roll-forward, FIN48, return-to-provision true-up, Stock Based Compensation (SBC) and Effective Tax Rate (ETR)
  • Provide support with building the processes and calendar to ensure a smooth connection among accounting, tax compliance and tax accounting functions
  • Build audit files for financial statement audits
  • Provide audit support to the Tax Controversies group for issues related to US income tax positions and filings
  • Accountability for maintenance and compliance of key Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls related to US tax accounting
  • Prepare technical memos to support tax positions
  • Scrutinize, challenge, and propose changes to existing processes and procedures
  • Keep up to date with tax legislation, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Regulations, and US GAAP changes, practice and global developments
