Our Water Catchment Management sector provides a focus for advising our clients on delivering Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), flood risk management and civil engineering solutions. Water Catchment Management has more than 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.
You will have the opportunity to support and drive delivery of interesting and innovative projects and collaborate with experts in other fields to develop solutions addressing some of the current challenges like the climate emergency, biodiversity net gain, reducing carbon footprint and nutrient neutrality. You will also work with other disciplines within the group (flood risk, rivers, hydrology, hydrogeology, water sciences, and geomorphology) in project delivery to ensure a sustainable approach that considers the whole catchment management. - Civil Engineering degree and working towards chartered status with the ICE, CIWEM or similar.
- A desire to deliver outline and detailed designs for surface water management strategies and solutions including SuDS, green infrastructure and gravity piped drainage.
- A developing knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy and design standards relating to surface water management and SuDS.
- Have experience of using at least one hydraulic modelling package (e.g. MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, InfoWorks ICM, Causeway Flow) and hydrology software (e.g. ReFH2).
- Knowledge of an additional hydraulic modelling package will be a plus.
- Competent user of Civil 3D software or equivalent, able to demonstrate a growing understanding of BIM and tools relate to shared project environment.
- A developing knowledge of producing design calculations, hydraulic models, contract documents, technical drawings and specifications.
- Report writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of Safety in Design and an understanding of CDM requirements.
- A working knowledge of relevant statutory bodies likely to be partners or regulators for the strategies, reports and designs developed e.g. the Environment Agency, Water Companies and Local Authorities; · An understanding of how to design foul drainage networks will be a plus.
