Overview of the Role:

Theis a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Typically, a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate, and advise internally, at an Executive level. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasionally external to supported areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing Supervision support, working closely with Senior Management to prepare for ongoing supervision meetings with the supervisory agencies. This includes identifying and negotiating agenda topics, reviewing and advising on messaging with accompanying materials, preparing talking points and assuring personnel readiness to meet with regulators.

  • Prepare responses to supervisory agency queries and follow ups on a timely basis and follow approval protocols to assure quality and timely response. Dissect inquiry to understand purpose/intent, decision content, implement best practice for regulatory audience, and package the response for submission.

  • Prepare regulatory notifications for escalations which have been raised for the groups supported. Notifications need to align to prior and current materials being utilized for the same escalation.

  • Support Regulatory and external agency exams , working closely with application support teams to interpret, gather and review deliverable responses to both regulatory exam and external agency reviews (KPMG, E&Y)

  • Read and interpret regulation changes, assess potential impacts to supported areas and determine suitability of current control design to meet the regulation intent and purpose. Complete Impact Assessment(s) with thorough response to each question backed by evidence. Perform regulatory screenings, including reviewing the regulatory obligations and complete control mappings.

  • ​ Assure Completion of Regulatory Attestations, reviewing attestation requirements to understand intent, partner with Application Owners/Control Operators/Process Owners to verify requirements are in place and/or identify gaps, prepare control workpapers in alignment to standard, participate in governance calls serving as the USPB Technology representative, and review evidence to affirm compliance.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience (preferably in a large financial institution)

  • Experience in preparing materials for supervisory agencies a must

  • Demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Expert in PowerPoint and MS Excel required

  • Strong Executive Presence: must be comfortable speaking and challenging at a senior level, with the ability to influence and engage, build relationships and connect parties

  • Analytical/Critical Thinking: ability to assess complex regulatory requirements, identify key regulatory risks and implications, evaluate multiple perspectives for prudent decision making, and question assumptions to ensure thorough analysis.

  • Attention to Detail: ability to recognize patterns in regulatory obligations, categorize risk, make data-driven recommendations, etc.

  • Logical Reasoning: ability to connect regulatory requirements with Technology/business operations, structure arguments coherently, and use deductive reasoning to solve regulatory (or non-regulatory) problems

  • Collaboration: ability to work across teams, facilitate teamwork, persuade stakeholders to adopt best practices, gain buy-in from senior leadership, etc.

  • Communication: ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences, explain regulatory changes in a digestible manner, speak confidently with Executives and in high-stakes meetings, use examples to illustrate key points, etc.

Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
