At Boston Scientific, the Sourcing Category Manager - Electronics is responsible for developing and implementing analytical and robust approaches to support strategic sourcing strategies that result in lower total costs, greater supplier value contributions and a sustainable competitive advantage within key sourcing categories in Electronics.
Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Gathering market intelligence and trends for the commodity and sub-commodities
  • Identifying all suitable suppliers per commodity and region to develop comprehensive knowledge and supplier database.
  • Negotiating complex contracts with critical supply partners to company standards and strategic objectives are exceeded.
  • Guiding respective internal leads through a holistic and systematic category approach to material and supplier selection and management; identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities.
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships according to the commodity strategy and strategic differentiators for each supplier
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks within the commodity.
  • Promoting continuous value improvement for all aspects of quality, service, and cost with assigned supply base
  • Managing supplier performance and identifying Value Improvement Programs to improve the total cost of ownership (TCO)
  • Establishing an optimal balance between collaborative engagement and competitive pressure with supply base to ensure the maximum value is realized, including negotiations on supplier contracts and value improvements.
  • Overseeing the annual budget process for assigned suppliers and resolving systematic issues.
  • Establishing early involvement in new product development to achieve development performance goals, support project timelines, and manage product cost.
  • Identifying risk across multiple layers of the supply chain; driving risk mitigation strategies
  • Leading supplier escalation discussions with key leaders from supplier organizations
  • Routinely conducting robust data analysis to inform strategy and decisions.
  • Acting as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience
  • Working independently within broad guidelines and policies, receives minimal guidance.
  • Leading discussions and makes presentations in cross-functional meetings, effectively presenting information to explain recommendations and implications.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 5yrs of experience in sourcing, supply chain management, or supplier relationship management
  • Proficient with MS Excel and other applications (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, MS Project etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or professional certification (i.e., CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Experience sourcing for electronic components and suppliers.
  • Experience working in medical device or similar regulated industry.
  • Strong decision-making and negotiation skills, ability to influence internal and external teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills: process and results-oriented
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities effectively.
