Job Summary

As a Specialty Product Associate I in Trade and Working Capital, you will be responsible in processing/releasing high value and complex trade finance transactions to help facilitate the purchase and sale of goods. Trade and Working Capital Operations has various product offerings which enables international trade and mitigates the associated risks.

The Trade & Working Capital unit, at Philippines Corporate Center is responsible for service delivery activities such as Issuance and Advising of Documentary Letters of Credit, Document Checking under Letters of Credit, Settlement of Import & Export bills under Letters of Credit, Collections, Bank to Bank Reimbursements, Trade Advances and Trade Loans, Documentary Collections, Supply Chain Finance etc., for ASIAPAC, Europe, Middle East & Africa and U.S. region.

The team has a global presence of more than 450 headcount spread across 20+ countries, with its main processing hubs located in Mumbai, Bangalore and Manila. Trade and Working Capital Ops operates on an ‘originate to distribute’ model, leveraging our global network of banks and investors to maximize the financing available to our clients, while adding shareholder value and mitigating counterparty risk.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in team management by co-facilitating huddles and meeting together with the manager, help in planning/managing leaves and daily volume priorities, support the manager in driving goals set-up by the Trade & Working capital Management, create an inclusive environment for all employees and share regular and constructive feedback with your makers to reduce rejects.
  • Ensure that the transactions are processed as per JPMorgan & Chase Co. policies as well as International Chamber of Commerce Rules like UCP600 (Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits), ISBP ( ), URR725 (Uniform Rules for Bank-to-Bank Reimbursements), etc.
  • Create an inclusive environment for all employees and be an advocate of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Monitor queues and assignment of transaction to the team including pending follow-up and ensure all transactions assigned to the team are completed with utmost quality as per agreed service level agreement.
  • Identify any red flags/ Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulatory issues/ Anti Money Laundering (AML) & Boycott language breach in the transaction and escalate for review.
  • Adopt best practices by partnering with other transaction processing teams and display willingness to go above & beyond to ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify and escalate issues in a prompt and timely manner which may impact service.
  • Works collaboratively, shares information, and effectively communicates with team members, departmental management and partners in Sales, Service and Product.
  • Process orientation with ability to understand upstream and downstream implications.
  • Share constructive feedback to bridge processing gaps.
  • Perform detailed research and resolve issues independently while processing with a mindset of accuracy and attention to detail. Able to prioritize work and multi-task without making errors.
  • Actively participate in projects.
  • Maintain control of the environment in respect of JPMorgan & Chase Co. policies and the local regulatory rules.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • At least 5 years of Trade work experience ad well-versed in UCP600 (Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits), ISBP ( ), URR725 (Uniform Rules for Bank-to-Bank Reimbursements), etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Requires strong computer skills, common PC based software packages including MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be fluent in English language: Excellent Verbal, Written & Presentation skills. Able to communicate and interact effectively with people at all levels.
  • Understanding of US Regulations & OFAC Compliance.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must be amenable to work in any shift, as necessary.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Background in Banking industry is an advantage preferably with Accounting and Finance background.
  • (CDCS) Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists & (CITF) Certificate in International Trade and Finance certifications will be an added preference.
  • Project Management experience.
