Reporting to the
What a typical day looks like:
- Operate and set up CNC and manual spring coiling machines to produce compression, extension, and torsion springs.
- Adjust machine settings such as tension, pitch, and feed rate to achieve desired dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct changeovers efficiently for different spring designs or material specifications.
- Inspect springs for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and load performance using tools such as calipers, micrometers, and load testers.
- Identify and correct defects such as inconsistent pitch, cracks, or poor surface finishes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and customer specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve machine issues, including wire feeding problems, tooling wear, or calibration errors.
- Perform routine maintenance on coiling machines and associated tooling to prevent downtime.
- Replace worn or damaged components such as mandrels, rollers, and guides.
- Work with various materials, including stainless steel, music wire, and specialty alloys, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Monitor material usage to minimize waste and ensure consistent quality.
- Suggest and implement process improvements to increase production efficiency and reduce scrap rates.
- Work with the engineering team to optimize tooling designs and coiling processes for new or custom products.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, machining, or a related field is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in spring coiling or related metal forming processes.
- Hands-on experience with CNC coiling machines (e.g., WAFIOS, MEC, or equivalent) preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of coiling machine setup, tooling, and maintenance.
- Familiarity with quality control tools (e.g., micrometers, load testers) and techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet production deadlines.

Pay Range (Applicable to Illinois) $33.06 USD - $45.46 USD Hourly
