Job Description

In this role, you will collaborate directly with the Head of Life Cycle Excellence and our Oncology team to develop and execute the strategic medical plan for Precision Medicine and Oncology. Your valuable medical insights and expert knowledge of biomarkers and precision medicine in oncology will be instrumental in shaping our approach and driving improved patient outcomes.

You’ll build and nurture strong relationships with healthcare professionals, providers, and academic centers by fostering important connections, contributing to our mission of advancing patient care and driving innovation in the field of oncology.

You will champion cross-functional partnership across our matrix organization. Working closely with various internal stakeholders, you will drive the delivery of company and team objectives, ensuring operational excellence and success. You’ll uphold the highest standards of integrity and ethical governance and always lead by example.

The key tasks of this position will be:

  • Foster relationships with the health care community, especially Scientific Leaders (SL) and academic centres andcollaborate with internalstakeholders , to deliver improved patient outcomes.

  • Participate in the development of the Pipeline and Precision Medicine Medical Affairs Plan (MAPs) and implement tactics identified in the MAP that align with our areas of interest and prioritised pipeline assets.

  • Work cross functionallyto deliver specific (or support the delivery of) projects in the MAP, e.g. symposia, advice seeking activities, medical education initiatives.

  • Collaborate with and provide support to our field-based teams, enabling field medical excellence and robust field medical territory plans.

  • Develop partnerships with our market access, regulatory affairs, external affairs and clinical development colleagues to gain access for patients to our medicines e.g. Health Technology Appraisals, patient access schemes, compassionate use programmes, assisting with regulatory dossier submissions.

  • Partner with healthcare organisations, healthcare professionals, clinical investigators, and other external stakeholders to provide complete, accurate, balanced, scientifically rigorous and non-promotional medical and clinical information.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of our pipeline products, precision medicine technologies (biomarker testing, NGS, CT DNA testing), and relevant therapeutic area(s), in order to act as the subject matter expert

  • Represent the Medical Department at local or regional non-promotional medical events (e.g. Medical Congresses and Symposia), utilising the events to attain ongoing clinical knowledge and appropriately gather competitor intelligence.

  • In partnership with colleagues facilitate the delivery of data generation activities (phase I-IV), including the identification of suitable research projects, research centres, investigators, and innovative methods to generate data.

  • Act as an partner to all departments for the identification of SLs that we could collaborate with on specific projects or activities.

  • Provide balanced scientific information and training, on therapeutic areas related to our biomarker strategy.

  • Support, as needed, the Oncology Research Project Manager, towards ensuring accurate tracking of recruitment, milestones, and budget payments for relevant precision medicine studies.

What you will need:

  • A strong scientific background in medical or biological science is needed for this role, preferably a GMC registered doctor, GPhC registered pharmacist or a PhD with relevant experience.

  • Be self-assured in your communication and social skills with excellent strategic planning and organisational skills.

  • Proven relationship building skills with scientific leaders (either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/academic setting).

  • Be able to prioritise work effectively; balancing both long- and short-term tasks and be able to demonstrate previous excellent cross functional working.

  • Have a good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Pharmacovigilance laws and regulations, and an understanding of the wider NHS environment and key opportunities for Pharma and the NHS to partner effectively within the scope of the ABPI Code of Practice.

  • Have well-developed communications skills combined with the ability to strategically plan, critically appraise progress, and work towards implementing change with external and internal stakeholders to bring about impactful objectives.
