As a Kuiper EMC/EMI engineer you will develop requirements, review designs and build test capability for complex payload subsystems for low-earth-orbit satellites and customer terminals. In this role you will influence decision makers on the process, procedures and necessary tests required to achieve EMI/EMC qualified hardware. You will also play an active role in preventing issues via electromagnetic simulations. You will execute tests and provide leadership for other engineers and technicians during test campaigns. The key responsibilities of the role are:
• Define requirements for testing and qualifying subsystems
• Perform analysis of radiated emissions and susceptibility (RE/RS)
• Develop simulation models for interference and shielding issues to mitigate and control emissions and susceptibility.
• Work with electronic component design teams to communicate requirements related to electromagnetic environments such as shielding, grounding, bonding and isolation
• Work with subsystem design owners on EMI related challenges
• Define and coordinate EMI and EMC testing for satellites and customer terminals
• Coordinate requirements and validation with Launch Providers’ EMI and EMC teams.
• Develop and maintain EMI/EMC/Desens test labs and equipment and support execution of EMI/EMC/Desens testing for a satellite and its subsystems
• Identify emission and susceptibility non-conformance. Debug all failures to root-cause and provide manufacturable solutions.

- 3+ years of experience in a hardware development role focusing on electromagnetic environments or EMI/EMC.
- 3+ years of experience with defining and conducting EMI/EMC testing for electronic components and systems.
- PhD or Master in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related degree
- 7+ years of experience in spaceflight avionics development as an electromagnetic environments effects engineer.
- Experience with EMC industry standards and specifications for aerospace such as MIL-STD-461 and AIAA S-121A.
- Experience with using analysis to define requirements for emissions and susceptibility of avionics components.
- Experience modelling electromagnetic environments using electromagnetic (EM) computational commercial software.
