Sr Director, Global Medical Affairs l Innovation and Scientific Excellence will partner with the Global Head of Global medical Affairs, (GMA) and the GMA leadership team to develop GMA strategic initiatives and execute GMA tactical plans, managing key projects, and facilitating communication across departments. With the our Pivot to Growth strategy and the elevation our of the GMA organization, this position will require deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, exceptional strategic thinking abilities, and strong leadership skills.while enabling effective planning and execution.

This position is available in Parsippany (US) or Jona (CH)

Coordinate Medical activities with BD&L

  • Prime point of contact between BD&L/R&D & medical helping to execute strategy and review new opportunities found by BD
  • Collaborate closely with Medical/R&D/BD&L leadership to identify priorities for growth and expansion into new therapeutic area
  • Synchronizing BD with Medical Engagement building external engagement partnership to leverage insights and knowledge


Cross Functional Collaboration & Management

  • Act as a strategic liaison between R&D and other functional areas, including Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial Operations, and Business Development.
  • Foster strong partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of strategies and initiatives across Teva
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive specific projects and initiatives forward.


Project & Budget Coordination/ Management

  • Oversee the management and optimization of medical activities, including prioritization, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of projects with strategic goals, timelines, and budgetary considerations
  • Together with head of medical, coordinate medical leadership team performance

Innovation and Emerging technology

  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in medical affairs, development technologies, and scientific breakthroughs
  • Champion a culture of innovation within the medical, encouraging the exploration of novel approaches and methodologies
  • Collaborate with medical engagement fostering external relationships with stakeholders, academia, and research institutions to identify and leverage emerging technologies and trends

Leadership and Development

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the medical team, inspiring a culture of excellence, inclusivity, diversity, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Mentor and develop team members, empowering them to reach their full potential and contribute effectively to the organization's success
  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to scientific rigor and ethical standards.

Governance and Compliance

  • Simplify & strengthen the review, approval, tracking, and reporting of Medical Affairs evidence
  • Improve Medical Affairs decision making by enhancing a framework that helps expediting the process
  • Collaborate with medical operations to reinforce governance principles and processes for research collaborations and independent sponsored studies

Diversity and Inclusion

  • Reinforce the cultural component of the health care community across all levels in representation in the work we do ensuring i.e. Clinical trial, advisory boards, payor landscape
  • Actively collaborate with diverse communities assessing healthcare provider and patients cultural and socioeconomic factors that may impact access and outcomes
  • Encourage diversity across the R&D leadership fostering inclusive policies, strategies and initiatives.
Your experience and qualifications
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a scientific discipline required; MBA or related business degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on R&D strategy, portfolio management, and drug development.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful medical affairs strategies that have led to the advancement of medical affairs initiatives
  • Strong understanding of medical affairs and drug development processes, including preclinical research, clinical trials, regulatory requirements, and commercialization.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and strategies.
  • Strategic thinker with a forward-looking approach to identifying opportunities and addressing challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively engage and align stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience in leading and motivating cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
