About the role
As the Senior Prototype Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the development and execution of R&D prototypes. Your primary responsibilities include managing the prototype build process, documenting manufacturing instructions, and planning prototype assembly. You will also oversee warehousing activities, ensuring efficient preparation for orders and maintaining an organized, safe work environment. Additionally, you liaise with the R&D Inventory Specialist, assisting with order preparation, inventory review, and support for new component vendors.
Your responsibilities include:
- Plan prototype builds for R&D including orders, timelines, resources.
- Prepare manufacturing instructions from pictures and drawing assemblies and BOMs.
- Prepare process workflows, flowcharts, procedures for building prototypes under R&D.
- Track all built prototypes and coordinate traceability with the inventory team and quality.
- Work with the technicians to plan out action items, support them in their questions and facilitate prototype builds.
- Review drawings and Bill of materials to prepare excel sheets for component orders with quantities based on demand.
- Keep track of raw materials, equipment, shipments, incoming deliveries, and stock.
- Manage inventory using a Master excel sheets and maintaining it with frequent inventory counts.
- Prevent shortages of supply or manage unexpected shortages.
- Reconcile inventory differences between physical stock and digital data.
- Track Equipment Assets and coordinate Test qualification instructions with the subject matter experts.
- Coordinate equipment and Fixtures/tools builds and release.
- Work with external vendors to ensure the schedule facility tasks are completed and documented in the electronic management system.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
- Basic technical concepts and practices and a basic understanding of product or systems fundamentals.
- Experience using excel for inventory tracking and master lists.
- Minimum 3-5 years related experience as a manufacturing engineer.
- Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Must possess excellent detail, organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Software including Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and MS Word.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity reading mechanical drawings (CAD drawings) and Bills of Material.
- Ability to work under limited supervision and manage multiple tasks and prioritize assignments with limited time constraints while working consistently in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and ability to adjust to changing priorities and unforeseen events.
- Must be able to perform multiple high-level tasks within structured timelines.
- Experience using electronic document systems such as Windchill.
