ELK Engineer: Elasticsearch Engineer with experience designing, building, securing and maintaining Elasticsearch solutions.

What a typical day looks like:

  • The Elasticsearch Engineer is responsible for working with internal teams to design, document, build, secure, and maintain Elastic Stack Enterprise solutions (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and Beats, with X-Pack subscription) deployed in ECK or on-premise.

  • The Elasticsearch Engineer will work closely with architects, engineers, and integrators to assess customer requirements and to design and support an Elasticsearch Stack solution to ensure compliance with dashboard data requirements.

  • Follow life cycle processes to move solutions from Dev to Test to Production.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor, providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and best practice recommendations.

  • Configuring and maintaining Linux based Operating Systems in support of the Elasticsearch products (yum updates, product version upgrades and ECK deployments)

  • Documenting the installation and configuration for deployment into production following Ci / CD standards

  • Securing the solution by being familiarity with TLS, certificates, SSO/PIV authentication, and encryption technologies

  • Working with the data lifecycle management

  • Testing data flows, troubleshooting issues, and monitoring the health of the solution and servers to maximize performance and minimize downtime.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Any Bachelor or Master degree with 7+ Yrs experience in IT.

  • Minimum 4-6 years of proven experience as ELK Engineer.

  • Proficiency developing ELK stack solutions to include all three components: Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana.

  • Configuring, maintaining, tuning, administering, and troubleshooting Elasticsearch clusters in ECK and on-premises installations.

  • Build reports using APIs that leverage Elasticsearch.

  • Agile development.

  • Experience with source control.

  • Work closely and frequently with DevOps, Product, and Project Management through clear communication.

  • Work with multiple stakeholders to identify business needs, analyze requirements, clarify design dependencies, create test plans, support functional and non-functional activities.

  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverable, effective communication of changes or disruptions to the schedule with a focus on expectation alignment.

  • Ability and willingness to learn new things.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-moving environment, prioritize your work, and manage your own time.

  • Communicating and collaborating with non-engineers.

Here are our preferred experiences :

  • Any scripting language Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.

  • Experience with Elasticsearch Painless scripting language.

  • Data wrangling and validation.

  • Elasticsearch Benchmarking load test experience.

  • Strong understanding of JSON data ingest.

  • Text analytics.

  • Proven systems engineering experience with Elastic ELK clusters in scaling cloud environments.

  • Relational databases (i.e. Postgres, MySQL, SQL).

  • Experience building Elasticsearch plugins.

  • Security best practices.

  • Experience upgrading Elasticsearch from one major version to another.

  • System integration and architecture.

  • Docker, Kubernetes.
