Corporate Banker (Global Corporate Banking) - VP
As a Corporate Banker in our Global Corporate Banking (GCB) team, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our business in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). You will collaborate with product and global coverage partners to manage a comprehensive suite of corporate banking products, fostering relationships across our global network.
As a Corporate Banker in Johannesburg, South Africa, you will be instrumental in growing our GCB SSA business. You will work closely with investment banking coverage and product bankers to pitch new engagements and develop client relationships. Your role will involve identifying finance and risk management opportunities, leading origination and execution of financings, and managing credit risk processes. You will be responsible for onboarding target clients and driving revenue growth while ensuring sound risk-return metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with investment banking coverage and product bankers to pitch for new engagements and develop client relationships.
- Identify new finance and risk management opportunities in partnership with J.P. Morgan teams.
- Implement and coordinate tailored marketing of products with product partners, addressing client needs.
- Lead origination and execution of bank financings, including contract negotiation and due diligence.
- Manage credit risk and internal approval processes for loans and counterparty exposures.
- Oversee onboarding of target clients and present business and credit cases to internal partners.
- Drive revenue growth and maintain sound risk-return metrics.
- Serve as the first line of defense for continuous credit quality monitoring.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Proven corporate banking experience in South Africa and SSA, with a track record of developing client relationships and closing transactions.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate banking products, including bank loans, bonds, rates, FX, and structured products.
- Expertise in risk management and experience in originating credit and/or debt capital markets transactions.
- Strong influencing skills and ability to manage cross-cultural environments and inter-department collaboration.
- Industry and market knowledge with existing client and investor relationships preferred.
- Creative, innovative team player and leader with strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high productivity.
