What a typical day looks like:
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineering teams during the product development process to ensure quality standards are met.
- Develop and execute quality plans, protocols, and testing procedures for new sheet metal products.
- Conduct risk assessments and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for new products to identify and mitigate potential quality issues.
- Perform inspections and audits of sheet metal components and assemblies, ensuring compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Provide guidance on material selection, fabrication processes, and assembly techniques to optimize quality and manufacturability.
- Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality compliance for purchased materials and components.
- Prepare and present quality reports and metrics to upper management and stakeholders.
- Train and mentor production staff on quality standards, tools, and methodologies.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
- Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost.
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
- Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
- Holds up Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Advanced English
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in quality engineering, specifically with sheet metal products
- Strong knowledge of quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.) and quality tools (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.).
- Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with statistical analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with CAD software and quality inspection tools.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes related to sheet metal, such as stamping, bending, hardware Insertion, and welding.
