What You’ll Do
  • Configure control panels (e.g., Siemens, Hekatron, Esser) and peripheral devices (smoke detectors, manual call points).
  • Perform commissioning (Inbetriebnahme) of power supplies, aspirating systems, and alarm devices according to VdS 2220 guidelines.
  • Verify airflow rates in aspiration systems using design documentation and calibrated tools.
  • Complete Abnahmeprotokolle (acceptance protocols) as per VdS 2095 and local authorities (e.g., building inspectors).
  • Conduct functional tests (Funktionsprüfungen) for automatic/manual triggers, alarm signals, and integration with emergency systems (e.g., elevators, ventilation).
  • Test smoke detector sensitivity using VdS 2095 or TRVB (Technische Richtlinien für Gefahrenmeldeanlagen) methods.
  • Validate alarm transmission to Überwachungsstellen (monitoring centers) via IP or analog lines.
  • Clean and recalibrate detectors (e.g., aspirating, linear heat detection) to meet Herstellerangaben (manufacturer specifications).
  • Replace batteries, update firmware, and ensure compliance with Energieeinsparverordnung (EnEV) for energy efficiency.
  • Diagnose faults using tools (multimeters, loop testers) and software diagnostics (e.g., Siemens Sinteso, Esser Logic). Address false alarms (Fehlalarme) by identifying environmental or installation issues. Repair wiring, replace faulty modules, and ensure adherence to VDE 0800 for communication systems.
  • Complete Prüfberichte (test reports), Übergabeprotokolle (handover documents), and update Schaltpläne (circuit diagrams).
  • Ensure compliance with Arbeitsstättenverordnung (ArbStättV) for workplace safety and DGUV V3 (accident prevention regulations). Maintain records for Gefährdungsbeurteilung (risk assessments) and audits by Berufsgenossenschaften (occupational insurance bodies).
  • Integrate fire alarms with Sprinkleranlagen, Rauchabzugsanlagen (smoke exhaust), and Sicherheitsbeleuchtung (emergency lighting) per DIN EN 1838. Test interfaces with Aufzüge, Brandschutztüren, and Gaslöschanlagen (gas suppression systems).
  • Stay updated on changes to Bauordnungen der Bundesländer (state-specific building codes) and VdS certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with Elektrofachkräfte (certified electricians), TGA-Planer (technical building systems planners), and Sachverständige (experts) during installations. Manage timelines for Bestandsschutz (grandfathering) adjustments in existing buildings.
  • Adhere to Gefahrstoffverordnung (GefStoffV) when handling hazardous materials (e.g., detector aerosols); program Brandmeldezentralen (fire panels)·
  • Perform RAS pipes modification works and smoke test, cable wiring, connections and measurements.
What You’ll Bring
  • 5 year min. Experience on similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English. German is a plus.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to spend a high percentage of time in the field and to get hands dirty as needed to complete objectives or find the correct information.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • Flexibility to cover nightshifts and weekend shifts.
