Act as the design lead overseeing all phases of the project, from concept development to final handover to the facilities team upon project completion.
Assume responsibility for the design deliveries (Design for individual design stages 30%, 60%, 90%, 100%, specifications, BOQ, calculations as needed, descriptions, SOO, etc.) across all engineering disciplines (CSA, MEPC, Fire Protection), managing design quality and mitigating errors to ensure successful project delivery.
Facilitate effective communication with permitting, procurement, project control and construction teams to drive project success.
Establish design direction and prioritize tasks for each design discipline, ensuring efficient project execution within aggressive schedules including clear goals for design sprints to ensure shortest schedule for design development
Conduct design reviews to verify that all stakeholder (MFG, EHS, Permit, FM, etc.) requirements are met and to prevent design gaps between disciplines.
Challenge design changes to assess their validity and reasonableness, leading efforts to achieve maximum impact with minimal cost.
Coordinate with the project control team to develop a design schedule and budget that aligns with procurement and construction timelines.
Follow up with the procurement team from RFP package transmittal to contract completion
Support design-related tasks during construction, including RFIs, FCRs, and as-built documentation.
Collaborate with the document control team to approve design documents within the company’s platform and officially transmit them to procurement and construction teams.
Improve existing processes using IT tools through out-of-the-box thinking to enhance efficiency and rationality.
Regularly update the lessons learned database to prevent design errors and improve future project outcomes proactively.
