You will be based in the Tokyo Office but will be part of the wider and growing fixed income financing focused sales team in Asia.
As a junior sales person within theFixed Income (FI) Financing Sales team, you will support the wider Asia based sales team who deal in all major markets including but not limited to AUD, NZD, USD, JPY, SGD, EUR and EM local currencies, as it pertains to repo and financing products. You will transact in these markets across a wide range of clients (asset managers, insurance accounts, pension funds, banks, sovereign wealth funds, hedge funds, etc). You will be someone who thrives in a role where a great deal of independent work is required given the regional team so a self-starter attitude is a must. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as a large part of your role will entail frequent and ongoing dialogue between both internal stakeholders and clients. Your main client base will be onshore in Japan but you will provide backup coverage to the rest of the team in the region also.
Job responsibilities
- Collaborate with our partners in trading and research in Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong to provide comprehensive client coverage, including fulfilling client requests for market updates, assisting with the execution of client trades and providing clients with market intelligence
- Work closely with the regional Rates Sales team providing repo and financing specialist market expertise
- Take responsibility for full trade lifecycle starting from checking KYC, legal documentation, credit lines to then trade execution including trade booking, and general sales coverage
- Demonstrate proficiency in identifying market drivers and product lingo while showing a high degree of interest in broader fixed income markets
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Fluent in Japanese and English
- Relevant experience in a front-office markets role and a solid understanding of macroeconomics
- Strong understanding of global fixed income markets products with particular emphasis on repo/reverse repo and funding tools
- Clear, logical thinker with strong qualitative abilities and creative problem solver with ability to perform well under pressure
- Strong team player that is detail oriented with a highly disciplined approach to process and quality control
- Effective communication skills to interact with internal partners and clients
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Knowledge of global repo/funding markets, especially in the government bond space
- Proficiency in Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn quickly, multi-task and self-manage priorities
