The China Global Network Banking (“GNB”) Head is a senior management-level position based in Shanghai, responsible for one of the largest and most complex GNB businesses globally.
The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of Citi’s unique global Network to Citi’s ICG clients’ subsidiaries and regional treasury centers in China.
The GNB China franchise covers subsidiaries of our L2 global Corporate Banking clients.
The role has management responsibility for a team of ~ 60 bankers, RAs and support staff across 4 cities in China.
A key member of Citi China senior management team, reporting directly to the Citi China Corporate Bank Head and to JANA GNB Head.
Responsibilities:
Develop and monitor a client driven franchise growth plan which is delivered through people, partnerships and franchise management.
Understand China market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment.
Responsible for overall subsidiary and regional relationship management of clients and providing a wide range of treasury and corporate finance solutions, including cash management, trade, vendor finance, FX, general credit, loans, debt capital markets and commodities.
Drive client planning, product agnostic cross selling, client access, and effective capital allocation.
Translate Citi’s strategy into an effective and efficient GNB business plan and drive a healthy balance between near-term and long-term priorities.
Responsible for meeting revenue goals and other goals related to budget, risk management, and credit allocation in partnership with PAM and RAM Corporate Bankers, Global Capital Management (GCM) and Risk.
Drive innovation, differentiation, speed to market and promote cross selling of products across the full ICG platform.
Ensure alignment of core strategy against the segment with Banking, Markets, TTS, Securities Services, CCB, Global Wealth Management, as well as ICM and Risk partners.
Ensure client relationships and proposed client solutions meet or exceed internal risk and return standards, including stringent ethical standards and anticipated future changes in the marketplace.
Lead the Sustainability agenda and the digital transformation for our clients with particular emphasis on digital natives and digital tools.
Act as first line of defense, appropriately assessing risks when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Build strong teams and recruit diverse bankers in the GNB China franchise.
Qualifications:
15+ years of experience in a related role.
Experience in (cross cultural) people management.
Senior Credit Officer (preferred).
Global coverage / relationship management experience and working across the full spectrum of banking products / services relevant for Corporate clients.
Demonstrated ability to balance between internal management and external client time.
Demonstrated understanding of compliance issues and regulatory requirements (global and local).
Proven leadership skills and strategic thinking to create momentum and a collective agenda across multiple products with a diverse population and competing priorities.
Demonstrated intellectual grasp of the industry and ability to anticipate and lead the organizational response to future changes and translate vision into executable plans.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately.
Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication.
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
Master's/MBA degree preferred from a top economics, business, or financial engineering program.
