Job Description

We're looking for a Mechanical engineering Intern to join our mechanical and thermal design team in Guadalajara, Mexico.

  • In this role, you'll be working within Intel's global validation engineering organization, and need to be a motivated self-starter, a great team-player, and communicator to succeed. This job requires a strong willing to apply engineering fundamentals, also discipline, and attention to detail while juggling multiple priorities at once. You'll need to have a drive to keep learning and growing, and the desire to work with people at Intel sites around the world.
  • You will be working on a Team designing mechanical systems and hardware used in a variety of cutting-edge platforms used to test and validate new Intel processors. Under the mentorship of an experienced engineer, you'll be responsible for designing components, assemblies, and completing hands on testing.
  • Additional tasks are expected to include creating detailed 2D and 3D CAD documentation, completing structural, tolerance, and other relevant analysis, design for manufacturability, usability and reliability, design documentation, hands-on testing, reporting of data, troubleshooting failures, and engineering lab support.

Qualifications

Minimum qualificationsare required to be initially considered for this position.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (at least 1 year remaining as an active student).
  • 3+ months of equivalent experience (or at least 1 course/equivalent): Mechanical design, Mechanics lab, Structural analysis, Thermal Analysis, Engineering Drawings, 3D Computer aided design (CREO and Ansys Preferred), Strength of Materials, Manufacturing.
  • Advanced English level.
  • Open to work 5 days a week on site when required.
  • Must have unrestricted - permanent right to work in Mexico (the position is in Mexico; it is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship).

Preferred qualificationsare in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

  • Pursuing a Master´s or PhD degree with at least 50% of credits obtained and with at least one year remaining as an active student.
  • 1+ years of experience or advanced graduate-level coursework in: Mechanical design, Structural analysis, Thermal Analysis, Computer aided design (CREO and Ansys Preferred), Strength of Materials, Using Creo or similar CAD software within a collaborative PDM environment like Windchill,
  • 1+ years of experience in:
    • Making component drawings and assembly drawings with attention to detail.
    • Mechanical analysis of components and assemblies including tolerance analysis, and static structural analysis in Ansys, Abaqus, or a similar FEA solver.
    • Designing for manufacturability including machining processes and assembly processes, designing products or mechanical components which have been released to production and manufactured at volume.
    • Using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and statistical tolerance analysis to confirm function and assembly.
    • Working on or around PCBA's with HW engineers, and ECAD/MCAD management
    • Working with silicon microprocessors, PCB's, electrical connectors, heat sinks, fans, liquid cooling and wiring for servers, desktops, laptops, or other electronic devices.
    • Selecting and specifying different material grades and finishes of metals, plastics, and coatings.
    • Time management and working on simultaneous priorities.
