About the role:


The VP, Finance - Neuromodulation is responsible for the division’s financial management activities and provides direction and vision to the division finance organization but also provides financial leadership to division management board and the broader organization. Ensures that the proper controls and reporting are in place to meet all financial close and reporting requirements. This position is expected to manage all the financial details and to be intimate, articulate and engaged on all aspects of managing and leading the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Partnering and Decision Support - Provide financial expertise and guidance on all significant operating issues. Lead the development of the division annual operating plan, budget and quarterly forecasts. Work with the division President to establish challenging financial goals, plans and objectives that enable growth and profitability improvements, both short and long term. Lead the analysis, presentation and monitoring of financial results, providing clear understanding and implementation of any corrective actions which must be taken. [Key Activities: AOP, Forecast, Divisional Business Reviews, Management Board meetings]
  • Financial Reporting - Provide timely, accurate and actionable financial information. Ensure all financial statements and measures used to report financial performance are accurate and in compliance with company financial policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable laws and regulations. Work with Corporate Finance team on specific technical accounting issues and changes in accounting literature. Clearly communicate and implement the updated guidance. [Key Activities: Monthly Global Business Update reports, Balance Sheet Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR), SOX 302 Certifications, Earnings Script]
  • Strategic Growth and Portfolio - Provide leadership and direction in areas such as strategic planning, competitive analysis, and market modeling. Identify opportunities and tactics to drive revenue and accelerate growth. Lead financial assessment and valuation of critical new markets and business development targets. [Key Activities: Strategic Plan, Product Investment Board (PIB), Portfolio Committee, CPC.]
  • Continuous Improvement, Productivity and Innovation - Drive the organization to build and execute financial plans that deliver explicit productivity improvements through improvements in pricing, gross margin and operating income. Establish a business process improvement culture to achieve improved profitable growth and ensure sustainable financial performance improvements. Continuously promote and execute on a daily basis a culture and commitment to change and innovation.
  • Working Capital Management - Proactively measure and drive improvement in cash flow generation and working capital management through focus on Accounts Receivable and Inventory productivity. [Key Activities: Monthly AR reviews, Inventory Scorecard, SRAI Reviews/Reporting]
  • Internal Controls - Establish a solid internal control environment and comprehensive internal control systems that balance benefits and costs while complying with company financial policies and procedures. Ensure entire organization, particularly senior management; understand their roles in maintaining a sound control environment. Work closely with Legal, HR, Compliance and CA&C to investigate and take action on any matters that may arise. [Key Activities: SOX 404, Division Compliance Committee]
  • Talent Development - Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives. Set direction and objectives for the division finance team. Attract, hire and develop talent and leadership capability within the team. Ensure strong succession planning so that there are strong internal candidates being developed to potentially fill all key positions. Lead by example with direct reports in objective setting, regular communication and feedback, development activities and appropriate reward/recognition. Ensure all finance employees create and implement meaningful development plans and that performance reviews are completed on time.
  • Communication - Ensure frequent, crisp and clear communication to all relevant division and corporate partners. [Key Activities: Division Quarterly Business Updates]
  • Integrity - Set a standard for the organization by demonstrating uncompromising integrity.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA and/or CPA preferred.
  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in financial management and leadership.
  • Proven ability to analyze drivers of financial performance, develop/lead divisional financial operating plans, and present analysis to various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership at the individual, project, and team levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to apply solid judgment in decision making.
  • Proven ability to focus on details and maintain degree of accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet critical financial deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build trust and gain the confidence of key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highest levels of personal and professional ethics and integrity.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate (written/oral) to all levels of the organization, with executive presence.
  • Strong executive presence and experience presenting to Senior level leadership and board members.
  • Results-oriented. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong PC skills, including solid spreadsheet and presentation program skills.

The expected annualized base pay range this full-time position working at this location will be from $204,800 to $389,100, plus annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements) and the value of core and optional employee benefits being offered at BSC, which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Boston Scientific considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs. Actual compensation may be otherwise adjusted if the position is filled outside of the intended geographic location.
