This is a Hybrid position located in Plano, TX. Relocation to Plano, TX is required if you're not located in the Dallas, TX area.

What You’ll Do:

You’ll be asked to handle a variety of research responsibilities, including:

Collaboration & Connecting

  • Collaborate with technology, product, and business teams to inform intuitive and engaging customer experiences

  • Deeply knowledgeable of data, analytics, and measurement with a knack for tying data together into compelling insights and stories that drive action

  • Excellent at understanding, conducting, and discussing quantitative research approaches such as descriptive research, correlational research, experimental research

  • Agile collaborator with the ability to quickly gather, distill and act on feedback from partners in a rapidly changing environment

  • Excellent problem solver, with a research toolkit that goes beyond ‘out of the box’ methods to meet the changing and rapid needs of a growing start up environment

  • You’re comfortable tackling ambiguous/nebulous challenges in complex areas - preferably in a regulated industry such as data science or finance

  • You have proven acumen in analytics, measurement, statistics, and operations

  • You’re a systems thinker and orchestrator. You can effectively connect the dots between data science, design and insights to orchestrate strong recommendations that improve customer experiences, find efficiencies across shared products and common service moments, and unlock higher order value across the enterprise

  • Translate complex insights or ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product experience

  • Advocate for the customer through human-centered design research methodologies

  • Champion prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysis

  • Actively teach and mentor designers who do research alongside you

  • Working with partners and teams across various geographies

  • Embrace and advocate for an experience mindset - that research is one input in the design process, in coordination with other factors/considerations

  • Participate in hiring by reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and attending consensus

Discovery & Delivery

  • Expert in quantitative research and data analysis such as:

    • Cluster & factor analysis

    • Decision logic, conjoint, or kano model analysis

    • Statistics, sampling, inference testing, and data modeling

    • Data visualization (making the complex, simple)

    • Root cause analysis & time series analysis

  • Demonstrate fluency with design research tools and techniques to measure success, present opportunities, and support decision-making and prioritization

  • Practice and help evolve the team’s research techniques and toolset to work effectively in cross-team collaboration

  • Participate in the end-to-end product design process by:

  • Conducting in-person and remote research studies at all stages from discovery to validation, using a variety of methods to understand customer needs and define opportunities such as usability studies, card sorting, field studies, cognitive walk-throughs, contextual inquiry, participatory design.

    • Conducting quantitative design research such as surveys (Kano, UMUX, etc.), data analysis (web analytics, usage metrics), and other quant UXR methods (benchmarking, tree testing, etc.)

    • Helping designers and non-designers on project teams understand and apply research findings by framing problems, defining insights, and designing new methodologies/practices to serve customer needs

    • Distilling findings into clearly articulated and actionable insights to influence the direction of research for stakeholders

    • Facilitating and participating in workshops with internal and external stakeholders to align with business needs

    • Participate in presenting research and analysis clearly and effectively across various organizations by supporting, explaining, and demonstrating usability approaches and research to a variety of audience types from design experts to non-designers

Basic Qualifications
  • At least 4 years of experience with human centered research

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in social sciences, human factor, cognitive science, human computer interaction, or behavioral economics

  • Experience researching internal enterprise software, especially for business analysts or data algorithm tools or workflows

  • Comfortable working with a variety of business partners and delivering outcomes
