The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Specialist Product Development, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative

and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Contributing to new product development initiatives in the area of sensor systems for electrical power cable networks
  • Applying and advancing novel detection systems and sensors for the electrical grid.
  • Testing and supporting hardware systems in our HV lab to advance the product platform.
  • Troubleshooting, calibrating and servicing field units through remote and on-site support of customers.
  • Interfacing with cross-functional team members to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Generating intellectual property positions, including invention submissions, patents and 3M trade secrets.
  • Communicating test and other program results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting the development and commercialization of products to efficiently, reliably and sustainably deliver energy to customers around the world.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science discipline (e.g. Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) or related technical field (completed and verified prior to start) AND three (3) years of experience with electrical and/or mechanical systems design, testing and troubleshooting in a private, public, government or military environment

OR

  • Professional certificate AND 15 years of industry experience as electrician or related trade

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience in programming and debugging electronic systems.
  • Experience with systems testing and mechanical integration
  • Familiarity with electrical power grid architectures and components
  • Aptitude for hands-on and self-directed work
  • Advanced degree, e.g. MS or PhD in relevant area
