As a Director of Architecture at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Data Technology Group, you will lead a specific area of architecture, influencing teams, technologies, and projects across various departments. You will leverage your extensive expertise in architecture applications, processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the primary decision maker for your teams and act as a catalyst for innovation to achieve the target state architecture goals.
Job responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of Apache Kafka solutions to support Chase's data streaming and integration needs.
- Design and optimize ETL processes to ensure efficient data flow and transformation across various platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Actively contribute to open-source projects related to Kafka, enhancing the community and staying at the forefront of technology advancements.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the development team, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of architects
- Extensive experience as a Kafka Architect, with a deep understanding of ETL processes and data integration.
- Proven track record of contributions to open-source projects, particularly within the Kafka community.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, or Python.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, particularly in deploying and managing Kafka clusters.
- Experience in performance tuning and optimization of Kafka and ETL processes to handle large-scale data.
- Experience with data governance and compliance, ensuring data integrity and quality across systems.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and its integration with Kafka for scalable solutions.
