Design complex components and assemblies, draft component and assembly drawings. Release new components and assemblies using PLM, manage design changes using change control processes
Collaborate with suppliers to address DFM issues upfront and solve quality/production issues during transition to high volume and beyond on a sustaining basis
Design for a variety of manufacturing methods such as die casting, injection molding, forging, CNC machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing
Work with CAE specialists to optimize and iterate on designs to minimize weight and stress
Solve challenging packaging and integration issues, both internal and external to the drive unit. Solve assembly design challenges with mechanical tolerance stackup analysis
At Sr. level, in addition to the above, you'll also manage top level drive unit architecture and physical layout, author “skeleton” file to define all interfacing part features
Proactively drive progress on drive unit development and work cross-functionally to achieve deliverables and milestones based on project/program timelines
Contribute to lessons learned and best practices to improve development efficiency for continuous improvement
At Staff level, in addition to the above, you'll also act as subject matter expert for drive systems topics such as: advanced casting materials or processes, NVH mitigation, seal design and corrosion resistance, component level technology development and performance envelope expansion, mass and cost optimization
Potentially directly manage a team of engineers, develop skills and performance of direct reports, ensure success for the team in achieving broad program goals
