Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor a team of skilled Human Factors Engineers, fostering professional growth and operational excellence.
- Advocate for the value of human factors principles throughout the organization by educating cross-functional teams, influencing product development strategies, and promoting user-centered design.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across product management, engineering, training, quality, regulatory, and marketing teams to ensure that usability considerations are prioritized, adequately resourced, and effectively executed.
- Continuously assess and enhance internal human factors practices, methodologies, and processes to align with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
- Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely completion of usability studies, user research, risk assessments, and related HFE activities.
- Represent Human Factors Engineering in strategic meetings, contributing actively to product strategy, regulatory compliance efforts, and various initiatives.
Required qualifications:
- A minimum of 9 years of professional experience plus at least 3 years of prior managerial experience.
- At least 3 years of R&D experience directly working with or managing human factors engineering projects, usability studies, or user experience initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively for usability practices across diverse organizational functions.
- Proven track record of successfully influencing organizational change related to user-centered design processes and usability best practices.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to clearly articulate the importance of human factors engineering to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate degree in engineering, management, or a human factors-related field.
- Familiarity with applicable human factors standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA guidelines, IEC 62366-1, ISO standards).
- Prior experience within regulated industries such as medical devices, healthcare, aviation, automotive, or similar sectors.
- Proven ability to influence without authority.
