Jacobs Ecosystems, Restoration, Science and Permitting group seeks Archaeological Technicians with demonstrated excavation experience to participate in a Phase III archaeological data recovery effort in southwestern Washington. The project involves the Phase III excavation of multi-generational, pre-contact seasonal camp with a potential habitation component. This position involves providing archaeological excavation services for 4 to 6 months with a potential start date of mid-May 2024.
In this role, your duties will include archaeological excavation, evaluation, mapping, screening, note keeping, and other field tasks as assigned. Using your experience, you’ll serve as a member of a three-person team working to excavate and document all resources encountered. You’ll complete analysis of archaeological materials, keep detailed field notes, and adapt to project objectives.
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree
A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field
Previous Phase III/data recovery excavation experience
Demonstrated skills in cultural resources management, including supervisory experience on survey and excavation projects
Knowledge of computers and GPS equipment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organizational and time management skills to effectively complete assigned workload within defined timelines and in accordance with established standards
Ideally, you’ll also have:
At least 2-3 years of experience in archaeological data recovery and excavation
Additional experience in pre-contact archaeology, lithic analysis, faunal analysis, ethnography, GIS, and/or osteology
Experience working in the consulting environment
Phase lII data recovery experience in the U.S. Pacific Northwest
