Role Overview
As Manager of Scientific Computing, you will provide high-performance computing (H P C) programming expertise in Linux and AWS cloud environments. Collaborate with Senior Manager to support research and development teams computational requirements and provide tailored H P C solutions by developing and optimizing applications and workflows. Ultimately, you will play a key role in implementing scalable and efficient solutions on AWS to support compute-intensive applications. We are looking for an individual with passion for H P C and motivated to provide worldclass H P C experience to enable research scientist to use the power of leading-edge science to save and improve lives around the world
What will you do in this role:
- Work closely with researchers, data scientists, and system administrators to develop H P C solutions in a DevOps environment.
- Implement scalable and efficient solutions on AWS, leveraging services such as EC2, S3, EFA, and FSx for Lustre, etc.
- Optimize compute and data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency in cloud-based H P C environments.
- Create scripts and tools for automating cluster deployment, monitoring, and management using Terraform, Ansible, AWS CLI, etc.
- Analyze and tune Linux systems and applications for H P C workloads, including network performance and parallel file systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in complex H P C environments, including job scheduling, software, and cloud infrastructure.
- Document processes, configurations, and best practices for H P C workloads in AWS and Linux environments.
- Work within a matrix organizational structure, reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director, as well as collaborating with other teams.
- Participate in project planning, execution, and delivery, ensuring alignment with both functional and project goals.
What should you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (with relevant experience). Bachelor’s degree in other fields with extensive relevant experience is acceptable.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in Linux operating systems, shell scripting, and HPC architecture.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code on AWS.
- Experience with CI/CD toolchains (e.g. GitLab, GitHub Action, Jenkins, etc.).
- Experience with job schedulers like SLURM, AWS Parallel Cluster, Grid Engine, AWS Batch, PBS Pro or other H P C workload managers.
- Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey findings and recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential risks.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate assessments and reporting.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to coordinate with various teams.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
