Participate in new product development design reviews to provide insight and direction so as to avoid mold design/functional problems and issues as assigned.
Coordinate tooling orders needed for the facility.
Work with internal and external mold designers and tool shops to ensure compliance to established mold design and construction guidelines and standards.
Work with the global tooling team to bring new tools in as needed.
Actively participate in discussions to evaluate, qualify and choose new mold and manifold suppliers as requested.
Perform detailed reviews of new mold designs to ensure appropriate tolerances are applied and that materials of construction, actuators, finishes and coatings are properly specified and adequate to perform intended purpose.
Participate in new mold acceptance runs to insure proper mold action and function.
Support Process Engineers and technicians during initial mold sampling, trials and validation runs to document, troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise.
Support operations to resolve problems and issues as related to mold design and function as assigned.
Maintain mold drawing system and update mold designs for internal ECN’s.
Design metrology fixtures and assist with measurement routine planning.
Support process improvements, cost reductions/savings, scrap reductions, etc. through the implementation of LEAN concepts.
Work with our commercial sales team and customers for existing annual tooling evaluations and financials needed for any major repairs.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Education: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline to include: mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial, or plastics.
Experience: 1-3 years of job-related experience
Knowledge of the basic principles of injection molding, systematic molding, mold design, mold assembly, and machine operations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent interpersonal & problem-solving skills & be able to interface with employees in all levels of the organization; must possess good organization, time-management, negotiating & conflict resolution skills.
Excellent computer skills required including all MS Office applications.
Advanced in using SolidWorks. Some knowledge in Pro-E is a plus.
Familiarity with SAP, Master Control or similar systems and databases, a plus.
Familiar with cGMP, ISO, and FDA standards.
Knowledge of statistical tools and Minitab.
Good understanding in machining and fabrication equipment and methods (e.g. milling, turning, grinding, eroding, etc.)
Able to be aware of all relevant standard operating procedures as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
