Project and Position Description:
The Airport Facilities Design head enable Architectural design development, establishes and monitors project execution to ensure they are done according to best practices and the design standards identified in the Contracts. The Facilities Design head shall oversee design support management, scope of work management, design review and approval, permitting, agency coordination support, and building information modelling (BIM) coordination. The Airport Facilities Design Manager supports the Airport Development Project Managers in providing oversight of the designers and design-builders designs including architectural, structural, mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP), civil, utilities, and IT disciplines per LAWA standards. The Facilities Design head will oversee the various design activities related to all Airport support facilities projects.
Key Job Duties:
- Overseeing the review and approval of technical aspect related to planning, Architectural designing and project execution related to Airport facilities, like ARFF, GSE maintenance, ATC Complex, etc.
- Client Collaboration: Engage with clients, stakeholders, and community members to understand their vision and goals and translate them into actionable design concepts.
- Team Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct design research and analysis to inform design decisions, incorporating best practices, emerging trends, and sustainable design principles.
- Sustainability: Incorporate sustainable design principles and environmental considerations into master plans.
- Facilitating meetings and being the technical liaison between the designer, contractors and Subject Matter Expert teams.
- Working with the Airport Development Project Manager in defining, reviewing, and/or approving design requirements, responsibilities, and program consistency.
- Providing guidance to the Airport Development Project Manager should design requirements ontained in the project documents not be clearly defined.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage complex mixed use design projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to design standards, budgets, and timelines.
- Strategy: Develop comprehensive design strategies, and understand the zoning guidelines that enhance the functionality, sustainability, and livability of urban spaces.
- Feasibility study: Generate feasibility presentations as per local norms, that align with the project's goals, budget, and timeline.
- Lending expertise to manage comment resolution.
- Providing technical review of changes to scope of work for each project.
- Establishing submittal approval procedures and ensuring uniformity of review approach.
- Auditing project team comments and designer responses.
- Monitoring compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines for the Airport Development projects ensuring consistency and quality in design.
- Monitoring permitting information and the permitting process required by the design team.
- Supporting the Airport Development Project Manager to ensure design reviews are completed on time and within budget.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Architecture from reputed institute
- Master’s degree in architecture, design, or project management from institution of repute
- Total 15-20 years of experience out of which minimum 5 years of in design management at Airports
