Job Description Summary

This role supports strategy implementation for cross-modality research and scientific (non-commercial) partnerships in the assigned region or sector in support of compliant and effective scientific engagement with external stakeholders to advance a common vision of helping clinicians provide the best patient care possible.

Essential Responsibilities

serves as a liaison between product engineering and research & development teams, marketing & commercial teams, and external healthcare researchers in support of GE HealthCare’s scientific objectives. The primary responsibility is to implement the defined scientific engagement strategy and enable operations for healthy long-term success at an academic site level.

  • Serve as a (without commercial objectives) enabler of scientific exchange with healthcare professionals, healthcare institutions, and healthcare research entities in support of GEHC’s scientific and innovation/product objectives.

  • Identify partners and projects based on robust product, technology, and research strategies aligned with GEHC’s scientific objectivesand engage the appropriate GEHC product stakeholders for consideration/discussion.

  • Collaborate with the Director, Research & Scientific Affairs to inform and shape scientific strategy. Responsible for implementing and operationalizing strategy at the academic site level.

  • Maintain operating mechanisms for research program management including milestone progress and payment tracking to compliantly meet research payment and reporting responsibilities.

  • Work with institution’s research and innovation operations teams to establish and support governance of cross-modality partnership agreements (e.g., master research agreements), success metrics, and operating mechanisms to ensure sustainable productive scientific engagement.

  • Maintain consistency of scientific engagements with key opinion leaders and scientific and clinical personnel in the assigned sector or region.

  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with KOLs on joint government grant submissions and coordinate process for submission.

  • Organize and provide supporting content for executive-level research interactions with key research partners including technology roadmap discussions, research steering meetings, and advisory councils.

  • Interface with regional customer-facing teams to ensure compliant exchange of information and coordination where appropriate.

  • Connect researchers and key opinion leaders with GEHC’s marketing and product businesses in support of speaker/advisory activities, co-authorship, education programs, and other non-commercial collaboration opportunities.

  • Identify opportunities for clinical acceptance of new technologies in collaboration with KOLs and GE Healthcare to generate clinical evidence.

  • Participate in industry activities (speak at events, join task groups, R&E, GERRAF, LEAD, etc.) on behalf of GEHC.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Degree in technical discipline (e.g., medical physics, science, engineering) or a healthcare focused discipline (e.g., healthcare administration, public health)

  • Experience in the medical technology or device industry (FDA experience qualifies) or research experience in medical technology. (4+ years is a good reference for level of experience).

Desired Characteristics
  • Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, PhD, MD)in a technical discipline (e.g., medicine, engineering, data science, science, nursing– radiology preferred)

  • Previous experience in a role responsible for research or other external partnership and project management

  • Knowledge and experience with GE HealthCare products, research partners, and customers

  • Ability to inform and communicate product, technology, innovation, and research needs and strategies to internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledge of applicable standards, laws and regulations governing research practices, compliance, and the separation of commercial and non-commercial activities

  • Excellent written and communication skills across various stakeholder groupsincludingcustomer facing / relationship building skills

  • Program management experience, or experience managing initiatives through matrixed environment for on time and effective deliverables

  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work

  • Ability to indirectly manage and influence across functional areas to align and determine priorities

  • Knowledge of institutional research practices, including research involving human subjects

  • Ability to effectively critique research designs and redirect

  • Knowledge of US healthcare systems and clinical practices related to patient care

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel and PowerPoint
