As an Associate in Asset Management - Portfolio Implementation, you will have the opportunity to interact with various teams and professionals. You will work closely with portfolio managers to execute trades and manage exposures. Your role will involve monitoring portfolios for compliance, conducting pre-trade checks, liaising with dealers and operational departments, and contributing to projects aimed at improving operational efficiency. This role requires a high level of numeracy, attention to detail, risk awareness, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of back-office functions, client guidelines, regulatory regimes, and emerging and Asian equity markets would be advantageous.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide trade implementation assistance to the Fund Managers (located in the London office) on a day to day basis.
  • Monitor portfolios for compliance with guidelines and restrictions.
  • Conduct pre-trade compliance checks and then input trades onto the dealing system.
  • Monitor cash flows and cash levels in accounts.
  • Liaise with dealers and operational departments to keep on top of issues affecting portfolios and to solve problems rapidly (i.e. corporate actions / proxy voting / settlements / Cash Management)
  • Produce adhoc/daily/weekly/monthly reports for the Team and Marketing departments.
  • Provide input/suggestions for projects to help improve the efficiency of the operations of the desk.
  • Undertake Operational set-up of new accounts/funds; set-up of new securities/IPOs/Placings for trading
  • Undertake Ad-hoc projects to streamline and improve the accuracy and efficiency of the implementation process
  • Maintaining desk implementation procedures and remaining up-to-date with/advancing best practice

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Very risk aware with a control oriented mind-set.
  • Assertive with strong communication skills.
  • Is highly focused and can maintain a consistently high level of concentration and attention to detail
  • Able to work accurately under pressure, within tight deadlines and able to effectively and efficiently prioritise work flow.
  • Pro-active approach to work to prevent problems occurring.
  • Knowledge of the Back-Office functions and the life-cycle of an equity trade
  • Knowledge of client guidelines and various regulatory regimes
  • Operating knowledge of Emerging and Asian equity markets
  • Has a questioning nature, challenges anomalous figures or procedures

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Familiarity with Bloomberg
  • Good MS Office skills (Preferably to Advanced Excel level.)
