The Senior PDK Development Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of Process Development Kits (PDKs) used in the design and verification of integrated circuits as well as enabling PDKs for most advanced process technologies in the industry standard methods and ease of use for the end customers. This role requires a deep understanding of semiconductor device physics, IC fabrication processes, and electronic circuits. The job requires partnering and leveraging domain experts across various areas of Technology Development, EDA vendors, and product design teams to develop and deliver high quality technology collaterals, models, and enablement of EDA tools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and maintain physical verification rule decks, techfiles, and fill runsets for digital implementation tools.
- Collaborate with design, technology, and fabrication teams to meet specifications and requirements.
- Support PDK users, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Maintain documentation for PDK development processes and user guides.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in PDK development
- Understand and model parasitic related to the interconnects.
- Work with multiple EDA companies to co-develop extraction solutions.
- Develop new extraction techniques to address upcoming technology features not yet handled in existing industry extraction tools and validates EDA solutions against models and measured data.
- Extraction runset and flow development using popular extraction solutions (StarRC, Quantus, xACT)
- Work with various solvers (e.g. Raphael, HFSS, Fast Henry, QuickCap, university-developed tools) and popular 2D and 3D electromagnetic packages.
