As a Transaction Diligence Analytics Senior, you'll be right at the heart of the action. Transaction Diligence Analytics provides business, financial, commercial, and due diligence services in connection with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, carve-outs, and other transformational events by leveraging data in an increasingly complex world. Additionally, you will engage value creation efforts to help our clients make strategic data driven decisions. As a member of the team, you’ll help to provide strategic counsel to corporate and private equity leaders. You’ll have direct access to strategists and decision makers, operating executives, managing directors, chief financial officers, and corporate development officers.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to help our clients both in and outside of an M&A transaction. As an expert in Transaction Diligence Analytics, you will deal with large volume business data, including performing data extraction, transformation, modelling, data visualization, benchmarking, and various descriptive and predictive analyses to help our clients make better decisions.

You will be working with, and learning from, highly talented colleagues on challenging and complex assignments. You’ll be expected to present your findings in a way that is easily understood by technical and nontechnical audiences at all levels.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior in Transaction Diligence Analytics, you will be a vital member of the team performing various descriptive and predictive analytics to advise clients in their decision-making process – whether helping them identify potential financial and commercial issues on an M&A transaction or strategic value creation opportunities on corporate clients and private equity portfolio companies. You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our fast-growing practice. You will also be helping develop staff ensuring their career development.

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to process, manipulate and concisely present large amounts of data.
  • Ability to use and learn ETL tools (such as Alteryx) and visualization tools (Microsoft Power BI).
  • Keeping an understanding of sector trends to identify potential risks, opportunities, and solutions.

To qualify for the role, you must have

Preferred fields of study

  • A bachelor’s degree in the preferred fields of study and a minimum 2 years of related work experience; or a graduate degree and approximately 18 months of related work experience.
  • A strong academic record, including course work that EY deems relevant to this position.
  • Sufficient business acumen and critical thinking skills to draw & synthesize meaningful insights from robust underlying data relevant to our clients.
  • Sufficient ability to manage and work with large datasets (e.g., data wrangling/transformation/structuring) as well as perform relevant analyses (both descriptive and predictive).
  • Experience with or understanding of relational databases/data models.
  • An understanding of basic financial, accounting and business terminology.
  • Passion for solving real business issues and gaining experience in various industries (TMT, Consumer Products, Healthcare, Retail, Industrial Manufacturing, etc.) and functional areas (e.g., supply chain, operations, corporate finance).
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and working under time sensitive client deadlines.
  • Experience with or interest in working with alternative data sets to draw insights on competitive positioning and company performance.
  • Thorough level of ability to interact, communicate, and present effectively with internal team/supervisor as well as external clients.
  • Demonstrated interest in consulting.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to travel.

Ideally, you'll also have

    • Master’s degree, CPA or CFA preferred.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced mergers and acquisitions environment.
    • Experience analyzing financial statements and key drivers of financial performance.
    • Experience with a subset of advanced analytical methods, such as statistical pricing studies, customer lifetime value analyses, customer persistency/retention analyses, geospatial analyses, statistical clustering analyses, etc.
    • Familiarity with a subset of analytics tools/applications including:
      • Data Management (Alteryx, Hadoop, SQL, etc.)
      • Data Visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, Spotfire, etc.)
      • Programming languages (Python, R, etc.)
      • Analytics Platforms (Databricks, Azure, etc.)
      • Statistical Packages (SPSS, Minitab, etc.)
What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $84,000 to $138,600. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $100,800 to $157,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
