Responsibilities:
- Report to Project/Lead Engineer and perform design and inspection tasks including:
- Undertake structural site investigations to support design.
- Undertake bridge, culvert and retaining wall inspections.
- Perform and supervise bridge, culvert and retaining wall rehabilitations and new designs including: technical reports, structural analysis, design calculations, quantities, specifications, and calculation checks.
- Produce technical reports and memos to support design.
- Work closely with Project/Lead Engineers during all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout.
- Develop engineering sketches.
- Work with technologist to develop drawings.
- Prepare proposals, project schedules and budget estimates for project pursuits.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Act as a mentor for junior staff and promote continual development.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
- Other duties as required.
You’ll be working mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.
Here's what you'll need
- 5 years plus of experience in bridge construction and design.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structures/bridges from an accredited university is an asset.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation an asset.
- Practical working knowledge of structural analysis software (such as CSiBridge or MIDAS Civil).
- Practical working knowledge of the CHBDC (S6-19) and MTO Structural Manual.
- Knowledge of OSIM is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
- Committed team player.
- Experience with site inspections during construction is an asset.
