Responsibilities:

  • Report to Project/Lead Engineer and perform design and inspection tasks including:
  • Undertake structural site investigations to support design.
  • Undertake bridge, culvert and retaining wall inspections.
  • Perform and supervise bridge, culvert and retaining wall rehabilitations and new designs including: technical reports, structural analysis, design calculations, quantities, specifications, and calculation checks.
  • Produce technical reports and memos to support design.
  • Work closely with Project/Lead Engineers during all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Develop engineering sketches.
  • Work with technologist to develop drawings.
  • Prepare proposals, project schedules and budget estimates for project pursuits.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Act as a mentor for junior staff and promote continual development.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
  • Other duties as required.

You’ll be working mainly from home (unless you prefer coming into the office), with the expectation to travel for client /site meetings and occasional team meetings.

Here's what you'll need
  • 5 years plus of experience in bridge construction and design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering specializing in structures/bridges from an accredited university is an asset.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microstation an asset.
  • Practical working knowledge of structural analysis software (such as CSiBridge or MIDAS Civil).
  • Practical working knowledge of the CHBDC (S6-19) and MTO Structural Manual.
  • Knowledge of OSIM is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
  • Committed team player.
  • Experience with site inspections during construction is an asset.
