As a Group Product Design Manager, you will formally manage a small group of Product Designers in Aumni’s KPI product group, encouraging and assisting their development while guiding them through the established design process, ensuring high-quality designs that are based in research and consistent with the design system. You will be expected to develop and maintain deep domain knowledge and an advanced understanding of the nuances relative to Aumni’s KPI product. You will be responsible for guiding the design and discovery efforts of your direct reports while empowering them to determine the details of how to solve problems. You will report to the Head of Product Design, communicating upwards the ideations, proposals, statuses, and outcomes of your product group’s design efforts.

Job responsibilities

  • Ensures that all squads in their product group are engaging in collaboration efforts and exercises with internal experts and stakeholders in an attempt to understand and solve customer problems.
  • Expertly conveys and articulates the discovery insights gained and design decisions made by the Product Designers in their product group to the Head of Product Design and other leaders and stakeholders.
  • Ensures that hypotheses relating to company initiatives are underpinned by appropriate and frequent quantitative and qualitative experimentation.
  • Provides, guides, and encourages feedback on all designs created by the designers in their product group to ensure consistency with best practice, aesthetics, our design system, and the Aumni brand.
  • Ensures all interactions produced by the designers in their product group are natural, meaningful, user-centered, and accessible.
  • Acts as a proactive leader within the product group when establishing product initiatives.
  • Accelerates the growth and development all designers in their product group through formal and empathetic management, guiding them through specific steps for improvement.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 8+ years of Product/UX Design experience; 3+ years formally managing Product Designers.
  • Considerable professional product design experience—specifically in web application design—demonstrated via a portfolio or something similar.
  • Proficiency with Figma and expert-level skillet with design systems and associated best practices.
  • Expert-level verbal and written communication skills, particularly when conveying user insights and design rationale.
  • Proficiency in performing and directing exploratory user research (e.g., user/stakeholder interviews, quantitative data gathering/interpretation, etc.).
  • Proficiency in employing quantitative and qualitative methods to test hypotheses and solutions.
  • Expert-level knowledge of design best practice and aesthetics.
  • Experience iteratively creating products that impact customers and the business in measurably-positive ways.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience designing Fintech products.
  • Familiarity with the private market / venture capital industry.
  • Understanding of how companies document, organize, and report on KPIs.
  • Experience designing data visualizations for financial charting and trends.
