As a, you will perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater collections system on an assigned shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preforms routine serving and corrective maintenance of wastewater collection systems
• Cleans vehicles, heavy equipment, pumps, tools, and other stationary and portable equipment
• Preforms routine inspections of vehicles and equipment; performs minor maintenance and lubrication of machinery such as changing oil and greasing equipment
• Operates and maintains vehicles, equipment, and tools that are required to load, unload, haul and spread sand, gravel, dirt and/or waste products (i.e., sludge, product waste, packaging waste, etc.); digs and refills ditched and trenches
• Carries or holds materials, supplies, and tools to assist collections personnel
• Maintains grounds, buildings, and lift stations; cuts grass, weeds and brush; trims trees and bushes; rakes grass, leaves and trash
• Completion of work orders using technology software programs (i.e., Maintenance Connections) daily
• Operates valves and gates either manually or by remote control
• Monitors gauges, meters, and control panels
• Able to obtain a Level 1 Wastewater or Collections Certification within a year of hire date
• Works safely and adheres to established safety procedures
• Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the workday
• Ability to carry and respond to work orders as requested by management
• Ability and willingness to work on-call shifts, as requested, including being fit and able to respond to call-ins, in a timely manner
• Understand and carries out oral and written directions
• Performs other duties, as required
• High school diploma or GED
• Holds a valid driver’s license
• Holds a valid Class A or Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement
• Must be able to operate a combination cleaning truck (i.e. Vactor
• Familiar with IT devices, such as Smartphones, tablets, and accessing emails
Ideally, you'll also have:
• Must obtain a Level 1 Wastewater or Collections Certification within a year of hire date
• Basic knowledge in the operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, farm machinery, pumps, and equipment used in and around water and wastewater systems
• Familiarity with hand and power tools and equipment commonly used in the maintenance of vehicles, structures, and buildings
• Tech savvy in filling out work orders using Maintenance Connection
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
