Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 10+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
• 4+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 4+ years of experience with debugging techniques.
Leadership & Engagement:
Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and project managers focused on developer experience.
Create internal employee infrastructure to test pre-release products from a developer perspective. This includes but is not limited to dogfooding programs, engagement with open-source maintainers, etc.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development.
Developer Tools, Infrastructure, Documentation:
Collaborate and support development and maintenance of tools, libraries, documentation and frameworks that improve developer productivity.
Champion cross-functional efforts to identify and resolve issues that adversely affect developer efficiency
Ensure easy-to-use sample applications, and accompanying documentation are of the highest quality
Process Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement in the developer workflow, including build, test, and deployment processes.
Metrics based decision making and promote best practices for software development workflow like code quality, CI/CD pipelines etc.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with product and engineering teams to understand their needs and challenges.
Advocate for the developer perspective in cross-functional discussions and planning.
Ensure clear and consistent communication of goals, priorities, and progress.
Articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical and technical stakeholders.
Innovation & Strategy:
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Develop and execute a strategic vision for enhancing the developer experience at Qualcomm.
Drive innovation by fostering an atmosphere of experimenting with new tools and approaches to improve development efficiency.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience as an engineering manager or similar leadership role.
8+ years of experience in software development with a deep understanding of developer tools and processes.
Demonstrated experience in actively participating and contributing to open-source and AI projects and communities is essential.
Experience with agile methodologies and software development lifecycle.
Bachelor's degree required
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++ Understand trends in AI/ML model design, and workflow through application developer engagements and latest academic research
Familiarity with modern development tools and environments (e.g., Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Actions, CI/CD tools).
Understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Leadership Skills:
Excellent leadership and people management skills.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop team members.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to navigate complex technical and organizational challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
Background in DevX practices and principles.
Knowledge of security best practices in software development

Pay range:
$211,500.00 - $317,500.00
