Description
APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Lead the development activities to design and develop innovative display modules used in future Apple products. Investigate up-to-date mechanical package designs and technologies such as display panel and backlight design to generate innovative ways that further improve Apple portable display performance and enables strong and compact system designs. Define and review the overall module mechanical architecture & performance requirements. Achieve system performance goals through mechanical design optimization, using 3D CAD (UG, Solidworks, ProE), prototyping, and new material and manufacturing processes. Define and implement meticulous validation plan for ME characteristics of the panels using a confirmed understanding of DOE (Design of Experiments), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and statistical process control techniques. Develop design solutions and corrective actions by driving failure analysis and DOEs to inform design changes, process controls and specifications, and quality control specifications. Work with system engineering team to understand the mechanical interface designs, including alignment features, tolerances analysis, and sophisticated materials for the components. Work with multi-functional project teams and supply base throughout product development phase and supporting the initial product ramp to initial mass production. Set plans of display developments, monitor and manage all the issues related with the display projects. Work with System team to develop display roadmap and technology development by providing display module design requirements. Design display components and identify suppliers required to meet specification. Define and review the display mechanical architecture and performance requirements for the system design. Drive failure analyses and design of experiments to reach design solutions; and perform mechanical design alignment features, tolerances analysis, and advanced material development. 20% International travel required. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 - $214,500/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
