Your key responsibilities:
- Answer technical Independence queries related to audit, non-audit services, business relationships, and operations.
- Conduct Independence checks and research, as needed.
- Offer general Independence support to GDS Risk leadership.
- Ensure compliance with the Global Independence Risk Control Framework.
- Coach and manage junior members of the Independence Team.
- Providing overall insight to ad hoc project and other support to team members of the Independence team
- Analysis of potential breaches of Independence requirements
- Coaching junior team members and ensuring smooth onboarding of new joiners.
- Provision of training/support to colleagues in other GDS Centers with respect to independence matters
- Organize and run awareness sessions related to independence matter at regular intervals to help upkeep the compliance in GDS
- Responsible to provide updates related to ISQM (International Standard on Quality Management)

- Experience working in an Independence function at Manager level.
- Strong analytical and interpretation skills with excellent attention to detail
- Experience in various activities associated with ISQM (International Standard on Quality Management)
- Adaptability and flexibility with good team working skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships with service lines and develop an excellent understanding of their business and service offerings
- Ability to work to pre-determined deadlines, meet objectives under pressure and manage complex projects.
- Strong communication ability with colleagues at all levels including delivering tough messages to senior leaders within the firm
To qualify for the role, you must have
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, or Law.
- Overall 10-12 years of experience in risk management/compliance areas, out of which at least 5 years of experience in areas related to Personal Independence, with a strong preference for corporate compliance areas.
- Experience of having worked as part of Risk management team in Big4 firms.
- Advanced working knowledge and experience with Excel and reporting tools.
- Significant experience related to Auditing or related fields.
- A comprehensive understanding of compliance needs and the ability to translate them into actionable strategies.
- Junior Independence professionals with experience looking to progress may also be considered
