In this role, you will be working in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Chief Risk Office function, based in London, to support the regulatory engagement activity of the Risk department in the EMEA region. As a member of a relatively small team, you will be contributing to the team’s deliverables and be responsible for risk-level publications for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region in a relatively short time.

Job responsibilities

  • Leads the coordination of regulatory engagement within and impacting the EMEA Risk function, including meetings, exams, requests for information and remediation activity
  • Supports, and where required leads, the preparation of meeting materials and submissions, working with Risk SMEs on input and reviewing proposed materials to ensure quality and messaging consistency
  • Leads, tracks and monitors regulatory exams, requests, and meetings impacting Risk, providing management information as appropriate including input into Global Risk Regulatory tracking/briefings
  • Leads the review, development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of Risk Regulatory Management tools, frameworks, and policies.
  • Support regulatory issue management activity, partnering with the broader Risk Control Office and issue owners
  • Supports on the production of regulatory management information packs related to all Risk regulatory activity, including relevant policy developments.
  • Supports the program management of regulatory remediation and/or implementation projects that have cross-Risk function impact where necessary
  • Supports and guide the Risk Regulatory Engagement Associate, and other juniors within the wider EMEA CRO function
  • Works and proactively engage with Finance, Compliance Regulatory Management, Office of Regulatory Affairs, Business Management, Risk Control Management, Office of the Secretary, Finance & Business Management and other teams in the Risk function as required to meet core requirements and effect improvements, as well as to build cross-functional relationships
  • Partners closely with the Risk Regulatory Management teams in other regions to share relevant information and best practices, supporting firmwide governance and oversight.
  • Seeks opportunities to present and socialise the work of the EMEA Risk Regulatory Management team within and outside the Risk function

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong leadership skills to carry multiple (and in some cases more senior) Risk stakeholders along, knowing when to step-in and provide required assurance and direction
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with ability to communicate (oral and written) effectively at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task, plan ahead, and work well under pressure with commitment to deliver under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to analyse problems and aggregate data
  • Keen attention to detail, and to be inquisitive and proactive in identifying problems and solutions
  • Ability to work well with colleagues with a varying degree of technical, financial, regulatory, and overall work experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Significant professional experience in financial services, ideally in the 2ndLine function of a large international bank, or an EMEA regulatory or supervisory authority
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, implementing effective control environments especially in the Financial Services Industry
  • Experience in a role that required familiarity with regulatory requirements in an EMEA jurisdiction or required communicating with EMEA regulators would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of the current and forward-looking regulatory and supervisory landscape across EMEA jurisdictions, particularly on the prudential side, will be beneficial
  • Strong project management skills and an ability to build consensus and lead initiatives to completion effectively
