JOB DESCRIPTION

The qualities and attributes needed for this role include a 'big-picture' perspective of Human Factors as applied to aerospace, resulting in products which are easier to design, easier to certify, easier to install, easier to learn, easier to fly, easier to maintain, and easier to upgrade, with safety at the center of it all. You will report directly to our Sr Technical Manager, and you’ll work out of our Phoenix Deer Valley location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Supporting strategic planning and advanced technology efforts related to Human Factors Mentoring junior Engineers.
Developing a strong understanding of the operational environment for assigned Human Factors projects.
Coordinating and presenting regulatory subject matter as an expert to help lead challenging certification approaches. Reviewing and approving Advanced Technology assessments to assist and ensure the smooth transition of prototype designs (pre-TRL6) into product COEs. Leading multiple projects across an entire project lifecycle
Assisting in building a global Human Factors workforce. Managing and coordinating common Human Factors engineering efforts across multiple programs.
Understanding/help export classification

YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
  • 8 plus years Aerospace Industry experience
WE VALUE
  • BS degree in Human Factors Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Psychology degree with relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of systems engineering and Human Factors disciplines in product development
  • Pilots License with Instrument rating, ideally on multiple aircraft types
  • 3 or more years with direct application of Human Factors activities
  • Experience with aircraft avionics systems software and hardware.
  • Experience with aircraft installation design.
  • Experience with experiment design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and industry standards (FAA, RTCA, ARINC, SAE)
  • Participation in industry activities and technical publications
  • Knowledge of software development methods and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence customers and leadership
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment with changing priorities and assignment
  • Strong technical leadership capability including ability to lead, or lead by influence, cross functional project teams.
  • Demonstrated capability in project planning/management, trade studies, requirements development/management, implementation reviews and verification activities
  • Ability to execute to a vision that is aligned with aerospace Human Factors goals & business needs; dedicated to success; inspires and motivates.
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of customers; applying first-hand customer information for improvements; establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively cope with change, act without having the total picture, achieve success despite ambiguity, comfortably handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Orange Belt or Black Belt certified preferred.
  • Advanced Degree such as a Master of Science (MS) or PhD in Human factors discipline is a plus
