What you'll do...

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Search, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end process of integrating ML solutions into our search systems. Working closely with a cross-disciplinary team of Data Scientists, ML Engineers, Product Managers, and Technologists, you will implement scalable and robust ML models. This opportunity allows for the application of your deep software engineering expertise to influence the retail industry by integrating ML algorithms that challenge traditional business models and contribute to ambitious growth goals.

What you'll do:

  • Support the development of backend software infrastructure necessary for powering effective AI/ML solutions in the search domain.

  • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to drive and accelerate innovation in search experiences through insights, frameworks, and machine learning prototypes.

  • Engage in the full project lifecycle, from planning through deployment, focusing on effective stakeholder management and communication with cross-functional teams.

  • Contribute to the creation of an MLOps framework that facilitates the continuous testing, deployment, and personalization of search experiences.

What you'll bring:

  • You have a strong background in software development, particularly in building large-scale systems that incorporate Search, information retrieval, and ranking mechanisms.

  • You possess experience in deploying large-scale ML systems on public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.

  • You are proficient in programming languages (Python, Java, Scala) and have a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and ML software (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn).

  • You are familiar with cloud computing environments and have a keen interest in MLOps practices, including design documentation, unit testing, integration testing, and source code management using tools like Git.

  • You are adept at agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA) and have a natural curiosity about how things work, driven by a passion for solving complex problems at the scale of a leading retailer.

  • Experience in the retail or e-commerce sector, particularly in areas related to search optimization, personalization, or recommendation systems.

  • Knowledge of causal inference, A/B testing, multi-variate testing, and descriptive analytics.

  • Familiarity with advertising targeting, digital marketing analytics, GCP, BQ, Dataproc, Vertex AI, Elastic/SOLR/Vector Search.

  • Experience in building highly scalable and resilient systems for customer-facing applications.

  • Proficiency in optimization techniques and MLOps architecture (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow, Kubeflow).

  • Experience designing and building APIs in a Python stack.
