What You Will Do:
  • Drive and support Cisco's Compute business through portfolio guidance, technical sales strategy, customer & industry influence, strategic customer engagements, and technical team leadership and enablement.
  • Develop and lead compute roadmap in partnership with engineering, marketing, field, external partners, TME teams, and other internal partners to meet Cisco products’ needs in edge, artificial intelligence, AIOps, systems management and other emerging technologies.
  • Drive strategic alignment through technical thought leadership, innovation, and field enablement to guide Compute product and solution direction, elevate Cisco’s relevance to prioritized customer outcomes, and drive successful new product and solution incubation.
As a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer, you will:
  • Lead by example and serve as a hands-on architect and technical expert building compute systems and solutions alongside and with product management, engineering, and marketing teams.
  • Design, build consensus, and contribute to the implementation of new compute products and solutions across internal and external customers.
  • Work with PM, engineering, UX and other stakeholders to set product vision and define roadmaps and goals spanning multiple organizations or teams.
  • Help nurture a culture focused on the best possible customer experience.
  • Partner with senior engineers and leadership to guide best practices while providing guidance to more junior engineers for product development and customer engagements.
  • Architect and validate solutions to address computing challenges in security, sovereignty, and sustainability.
  • Lead and/or participate in office hours, give talks, and generate documentation and training to grow the skills of other engineers, field teams, customers, and partners.
  • Create presentations for diverse audiences varying from highly technical to executive level to drive product relevancy and support agile decision-making.
Basic Qualifications
  • Along with a computer science, computer technology or equivalent technical degree, you have 12+ years of related experience and are recognized as a strategic problem solver in internal and external forums, with extensive technical, market, and business expertise.
  • At least 5 years working in a SaaS environment with a focus on systems management, orchestration, and observability solutions to enable management at scale of infrastructure product portfolios.
  • Experience with modern application development methodologies (CI/CD, Agile/DevOps) and experience building, deploying, and running critical, 24x7 solutions in a SaaS environment.
  • Passion for solving real customer problems and have experience prototyping, shipping, and iterating on new products.
  • Self-starter, consistent record to work independently on multiple projects and priorities with proven record of innovation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry leadership as evidenced by leadership roles in standards bodies, publications, and patents.
  • Evidence of ability to think quickly, respond to changing demands, anticipate future problems, and recommend strategic courses of action.
  • Excellent communication, project management and metrics design skills
  • A strong sense of usability and attention to the users of a system (whether developers using a framework or customers using the product)
  • A focused, organized approach to strategy, enablement, development, and quality.
  • Familiarity across the stack, with a particular interest and deep expertise in the intersection of data center operations and edge computing including AI-related inferencing.
  • Ability to get consensus and set technical direction within a large engineering organization.
  • Adaptability combined with the experience to identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement.
  • Competitive knowledge and experience.
