The Digital Accessibility Design Engineering Senior Manager reports to the Director, Digital Accessibility Center of Excellence and is responsible for thought leadership of digital accessibility technical requirements and controls.
Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Creating and managing support functions for internal stakeholders in the form of inquiry intake database, weekly open forum sessions, and ad-hoc support for technical expertise and control questions
- Managing Citi's protocol for WCAG adherence and establishment of Citi’s standard procedures
- Coordinating and managing technical input across lines of business for any dispensation requests being submitted to ICRM
- Sourcing and maintaining appropriate technical training both formal and informal for the Digital Accessibility Center of Excellence team, as well as all impacted stakeholders
- Managing accessibility tooling for technology partners as well as assistive technology for Citi employees, including evaluation of current and proposed software, executing renewals, and maintaining awareness of new technologies in the marketplace
- Managing internal consulting protocols and post-release assessment processes across functions and lines of business
This position is accountable for succeeding against identified metrics. This individual will regularly assume informal/formal leadership roles within teams and must have strong technical expertise and a desire to learn and teach. Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince Citi and external stakeholders. This individual is responsible for managing process resourcing within the team. They must have the courage to always do what’s right, the humility to learn from mistakes, and the ability tomake decisions in alignment with the risk appetite of the organization to promote sound outcomes for Citi and its stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Create digital accessibility technical strategy in alignment with Citi’s control and compliance requirements and in support of Citi’s customers and employees
- Systematize digital accessibility technical team routines and identify gaps in organization-wide digital accessibility efforts
- Lead and motivate digital accessibility professionals in support of all covered lines of business across USPB, Wealth, SMB, and Functions.
- Understand how a global matrixed organization operates and functions, and thrive in this type of environment

- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for WCAG guidelines and stay informed of new guidelines as they evolve
- Assist accountable parties (technology, journey owners) to interpret accessibility audit reports and identify root causes of defect creation and monitor remediation of those root causes
- Partner with groups across the consumer bank to share best practices for digital accessibility
- Assumes the intentions of others are based on common goals and shared purpose, and proactively helps colleagues achieve their goals.
- Participate in testing and evaluating digital accessibility software
Qualifications- 10+ years of experience in tech project/program management and UI/UX
- Ability to distill information from complex data sources
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at various levels of the organization
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders
- Experience with digital accessibility development and testing following standards such as WCAG 2.0 AA, WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508, PDF/UA, UAAG, ATAG
- Familiarity with assistive technologies such as VoiceOver, TalkBack, JAWS, NVDA
- Experience driving high impact projects, especially organization-wide initiatives related to accessibility
- Consumer-centric; empathetic toward the customer with the ability to put oneself in their shoes
- Experience mentoring others in methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers on web applications and mobile devices and in a variety of forums
- One or more of the following industry certifications is desired: International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) CPACC, WAS, and/or CPWA, DHS Trusted Tester Training for Web on Windows
