Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with Operations, Quality, Production Planning, Category Managers, Project Managers, and Engineering for the development and release of Best-in-Class Suppliers that support Commodity Strategies
- Assess new and existing supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity and fulfillment ensuring suppliers are able to meet delivery of components and requirements for production quality and other applicable customer and internal system requirements
- Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies and observations at supplier’s facility on part flow, bottlenecks identification, process gaps, driving risk mitigation and closure
- Act as consultant to communicate and coach the Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and procurement organizations to drive cost effective improvements to Quality and Manufacturing processes, minimizing waste, introduce new products and improve product design
- Track the supplier’s performance indicators, based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations
- Communicate performance metric expectations to current and potential suppliers
- Develop and manage strong strategic relationships with our key suppliers and business partners to reduce cost, compress project lifecycles, proactive risk management, advance quality an improve capital efficiencies
- Support the procurement initiative on transforming supplier base (rationalization, re-sourcing) with supplier assessment and development in line with risk management, cyber threats, cost, quality, delivery and proactive tooling management/tracking
- Lead and support efforts to fully realize cost savings opportunities
- Help maximize Design for Manufacturability by leveraging Supplier knowledge and capabilities through Supplier involvement in product and production design
- Provide key input to Supply Base Management Category Strategies and supplier performance reviews
- Responsible for monitoring NPI launch readiness to ensure the quality and timeliness of suppler products prior to and after start of production
- Travel to Supplier Locations as Necessary to Mitigate/Resolve Supply Issues and Risks, Monitor Production Line or Production Start Ups, Capacity Assessments, Risk Assessments, Tooling Launches, Perform Audits/Assessments, and/or Drive Supply Continuity Improvements NOTE: Focus Should transition from Top Spend to Top Revenue Risk Impact Focus
- Supplier Transitions and New Work Integration - Manage Agency Requirements, Facilitate Required Quality Sign-offs, Complete FMEA Risk Analysis, and Project Manage Value Streams and Some Cases PM Entire Projects As Required
- Outsourcing Project Management – Ensure Visual Standards, Technical, Labor Hours, Internal Quality Requirements Are Documented and Transferred, Existing Processes Are Understood and Transferred, Supplier Processes are Updated and Kept Accurate, and Facilitate Changes Between the Business and the Supplier, E2E Supplier Excellence
- Tooling Risk Mitigation Through Proactive Life Expectancy Management and Refurbishment/Replacement, Asset Management and Tracking, CAPEX Planning and Execution, and Manage Tooling Transfers/Readiness with New and Existing Suppliers. NOTE: This is 100% Ownership Tooling Base Accuracy and Content Upload in Tracker…..CAPEX Execution = DFM Requirements, Securing Execution Timing/Readiness, Confirming Readiness to Requisition Executioner, Oversight on the Tool Build, and Integration Into Production Oversight and 30,60,90 Post Integration Follow Ups
- Be an expert on supplier quality tools - lead the roll out, training and implementation of supplier quality tools for suppliers, including alignment with INT/HOS requirements.
- Assist / Leads SQE in the issue resolution and root-cause analysis processes associated with supplier quality.
- Drive RCCA’s on Supplier Caused Disruptions Ensuring Continuous Improvement and Risk Management
- Key Executional Supporting Role on Supplier VMI Operations Ensuring Stable Supply, Risk Management, Stock Rotations, Seamless New VMI Integrations, and Both Operational and Supplier Excellence on VMI Programs
- Develop and Manage Strong Strategic Alignment with our SBM Strategic Initiatives and Improve PSL to World Class Status, World Class Transitions/Consolidations Execution, Proactive Risk Management, Improve Overall Value Contribution, and Mitigate Supply Interruptions
- Post start-up Follow Up on Supplier New Work Integrations to Ensure Production Stability and Supply Continuity (30,60,90 Intervals)
- Supplier Continuous Improvement Beyond Just the Suppliers 4 Walls Full E2E supplier Excellence Focused
- Travel supplier locations as necessary to resolve issues
You must have:
· Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
· 1 – 3 years’ experience in Supplier Development or related discipline required
· 1 – 3 years’ experience in manufacturing, process, quality systems and root cause analysis experience required
· Experience with ISO standards and supplier quality auditing.
· Background in lean six sigma and statistical process control, capability analysis
· Understanding of Commercialization, APQP and PPAP processes.
· Good engineering understanding on Mechanical commodity (Stampings)
· Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred
