Job responsibilities

• Develop, Implement and maintain security features in backend systems, including authentication, authorization, encryption and access controls
• Create secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
• Collaborate with security teams to integrate security controls into existing infrastructure and application development processes
• Design APIs with secure data transmission and storage to mitigate potential cybersecurity risks
• Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities and trends implementing necessary backend improvements
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
• Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
• Add to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development(Java, Go), testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Solid understanding of security protocols and crytography(SSL/TLS, hashing, encryption)
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization frameworks(OAuth, JWT, SAML and OPA - policy as code)
• Knowledge of API security, including rate limiting, input validation and token-based authentication
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, DevSecOps and Security
• Experience with database technologies (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, MongoDB, etc.) and query languages (SQL, NoSQL)
• Knowledge of web protocols and standards (HTTP, REST, gRPC etc.) and cloud native technologies such as EnvoyProxy
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Jenkins, GitOps, Terraform, etc.)
• Experience with GraphQL
