We in SCHIE’s Firmware& SoftwareCenter of Excellencethe foundational firmware that powers the Microsoft Cloud. Our firmware lights up millions of servers and racks across the globe, enabling users to do everything from running blogs to crunching through powerful AI algorithms.

lead our Firmwarethe US.You will lead a talented team of Firmware Architects who architect and design a variety of Firmware Solutions for Azure. Besides people management, you have experience with SoC Architecture and Design,SoCand creation of solutions that lieat the intersection of multiple subsystems across firmware and hardware.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience building and leading anEngineering team.
  • Experience with working from early concept of SoC Architecture, designing,and delivering on new technologies across the entire platform.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • allthe following: Peripherals such as PCIe, memory interfaces, OS primitives, memory management, scheduling, interrupts, threading.
  • Experience withPlatform initialization, Board support package integration, low level drivers for peripherals such as PCIe, I2C, eMMC, SPI, USB, UARTs as well as Memory Management, Scheduling,Interruptsand multi-threading.
  • Experience FW Architecture and Design.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation. Responsibilities
  • You will be involved with all phases of product development,frominception,to microarchitecturedesign through firmware architecture and development, deployment and beyond.
  • At the design phase, you will be part of a team driving the architecture, design and development of the various sub-systems including firmware development of low-level hardware interfaces and define flows for boot flows of ASICs.
