The Public Cloud Engineer will implement cloud architecture (on AWS, GCP and Azure) that enables the infrastructure (compute, database network, storage, observability) required for application hosting in public cloud using Citi’s engineering processes and best practices, with particular emphasis on automation and security by design.
The ideal candidate also has experience in software development, designing and building highly available and secure solutions on cloud. The role requires a talented technologist with experience engaging with application developers throughout the full development life-cycle – from inception and design to deployment, operation, and iterative development. An appreciation of the rigor and quality levels required in a global, regulated environment is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Create foundational infrastructure for public cloud (compute, storage, streaming, network) using automation tools on AWS, GCP, principally Terraform and associated HashiCorp tools
- Design and create tests for infrastructure deployment using Terratest and other tools
- Work with the pipeline team to ensure end to end automation of deployment
- Ensure compliance with regulations and policy by implementing accurate requirements traceability and verifiable security controls
- Implement cloud network services to enable a fast, resilient and secure hybrid cloud
- Develop, share and enforce engineering best practices using a modern SDLC approach that enables CI/CD and emphasizes automation, auditability, automated testing and infrastructure/policy as code
- Provide technical leadership in the design of complex cloud systems
- Develop and advocate for cloud native
- Drive client satisfaction by identifying and developing product and process improvement and automation initiatives while ensuring compliance of solutions
Basic Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in related field or equivalent experience
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code tools
- Hands-on experience developing software using languages such as Golang, Java, Kotlin, Python, C++ or Ruby
- Familiarity with Domain Driven Design and Event Driven Architecture
- Experience working in a distributed, containerized cloud-based environment using Azure/AWS/GCP
- Experience with Service Oriented Architecture applications and cloud-based services
- Experience with modern SDLC tools, branching strategies, and ability to develop and enforce CI/CD practices
- Experience working with Linux/UNIX and Docker
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as an AWS, GCP or Azure Solutions Architect. Other cloud-related certifications would also be beneficial, particularly cloud security certification
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness or Jenkins
- Experience with TDD and automated testing frameworks
- Experience working with any design frameworks
- Developer level operations proficiency, particularly cloud networking
