Essential Responsibilities:
- Partner with PayPal business leaders and wider PayPal finance organization on accounting and reporting matters
- Drive accounting support within finance transformation work programs and other process enhancements
- Provide accounting expertise and leadership to finance and business organizations
- Consult with business partners regularly to ensure awareness of significant transactions and potential accounting impact
Expected Qualifications:
- 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Transformation Initiatives
- Ensure Compliance and Accounting Integrity
Ensure all system and process changes align with PayPal’s accounting policies, US GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements. - Modernize Accounting Processes
Champion the adoption of automation, AI, and other innovative technologies to streamline workflows and increase efficiency in the accounting close cycle. - Process Governance & Documentation
Own the process documentation strategy for the Accounting Operations team. Identify and execute on opportunities to simplify, standardize, and optimize operational procedures. - Act as Change Agent
Serve as a change ambassador, guiding teams through transitions. Communicate effectively, address resistance, model desired behaviors, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. - Support Close & Governance Activities
Participate in month-end close activities and support corporate governance processes such as balance sheet reconciliation reviews and control assessments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant experience in accounting operations, transformation initiatives, or financial systems implementation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA license
- Advanced hands-on experience with SAP ERP as an accounting business user
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects with autonomy and accountability
- Superb communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage executive leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in both public accounting and multinational, publicly traded companies.
- In-depth knowledge of key accounting processes, including fixed assets, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash, and month-end close.
- Familiarity with reconciliation and close management tools such as Blackline is a plus.
