Description
The System EE integration team is responsible for the design, specifications, modeling, realization and validation of high performance compute solutions. This is a systems design role which entails understanding and guiding theory of operation, high level requirements from various teams including Data Center Operations, Services Engineering, Silicon Design, Software Engineering and manufacturing. The ideal candidate has electrical systems integration experience with emphasis in high-speed digital design using high performance silicon and understanding of power conversion topologies. Day-to-day tasks involve electrical design, simulation, bringup, debug, and validation. Routine responsibilities also include factory build support, and multi-disciplinary cross-functional collaboration and negotiation where strong documentation and communications skills are critical.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong EE fundamentals, grounded in a solid understanding of E&M physics and first principles.
  • Superior written, verbal, and visual communication skills in order to develop functional specs, procedures, and other documentation needed for complex system integration as well as strong presentation skills to illustrate concepts and ideas.
  • Working knowledge of design and validation requirements for common low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces: I2C/SMBus, SPI, JTAG, USB, PCIe, Ethernet (SGMII, RMII, QFSP), DDR Memory, SSD storage interfaces.
  • Experience with PCB bringup and debug using standard EE lab equipment: Soldering, DMM, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer.
  • BS in electrical or computer engineering with a minimum 8 years of relevant industry work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Data Center and hyper-scaling compute environments. Experience designing for high volume, high power, and highly reliable and available systems. Ability to tackle engineering problems at the data center level.
  • High-speed board design experience with 10+ layer PCBs, including PCB material selection, can guide SI/PI simulations
  • Experience in circuit design and simulation for a variety of domains including power, digital, analog, high-speed communications, and/or programmable logic.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and design tradeoffs, high-speed bus throughput and latency analysis and interconnect fabric standards.
  • Schematic capture and constraint-driven PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technology and debug problems at varying levels of abstraction, from the system-level down to the silicon/transistor level.
  • Experience with designs using new or custom silicon.
  • Automation and data manipulation script development for accelerating validation and observational tasks on prototype systems.
  • Data analysis and visualization of data sets to help draw engineering conclusions.
